It was a big day for Isaac Bryant. It was the day he had worked so hard for during his high school wrestling career. Isaac was resting in preparation for the Division III District Wrestling Championships in Troy, Ohio where he was competing as a junior from Mechanicsburg High school. As a junior, the championships were a big deal for him. He thought a bit of rest would calm his nerves.

He woke up from his rest to the sound of an announcer asking a question over the loudspeakers. The announcer was saying that the person who was designated to sing the National Anthem before the start of the championships was not going to make it in time. The announcer also reached out to the crowd to see if anyone would step up and volunteer to sing “Star-Spangled Banner” to the crowd that had gathered in the arena.

Isaac said that at first, he was simply a bit confused and still half-in a resting state. He understood that the arena needed someone, anyone, to sing the National Anthem.

Isaac has always been a bit of a singer. He says that singing and music is a part of him. He says it’s just something he has always done. He also joked that he is basically a performer at heart. Isaac volunteered to sing the National Anthem for the crowd at his wrestling championships even though he had never sung “Star-Spangled Banner” in front of a crowd prior to that day. He not only sang the song flawlessly, but he added his own showmanship to the performance. It was clear to every single person in the audience that he was singing right from the heart.

Isaac’s parents were at the championship meet to support him. They said that they were incredibly proud of him. Although they had heard his singing hundreds of times, hearing him sing the National Anthem brought them to tears.
