A former reality TV star and a popular YouTuber is giving up her latest career venture after it landed her in the hospital. Stephanie Matto first became famous following her appearance on the TLC series “90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days,” which follows couples who have yet to meet in person. After the American partner travels to their partner’s foreign country, they decide together if their relationship is worth pursuing and go to the next round of applying for a K-1 visa.

Matto is also known for having a strong social media presence and following. Her YouTube channel features a wide variety of videos, and she is also active on Instagram and TikTok. She has a polarizing personality, as some people seem to be big fans while others have strong negative feelings toward the star.

Most recently, Matto expressed interest in a new career venture that consisted of selling jarred farts. The reality TV star made videos showing how she went about the process, and then afterward sold her own farts in jars. Business was surprisingly booming for Matto, and she continued to put out products for her fans and customers.

However, in January 2022, Matto revealed that she had gone to the hospital following an incident that she believed occured from all of the strain she was putting her body through to create the jarred farts. Matto has a history of health problems, and she said that this recent incident felt like she was having a stroke. Since then, the reality TV and social media star has had to rethink her career path to keep her fans happy and herself healthy.

In a YouTube video from Dec. 14, 2021, Matto explained that she began selling her farts about three weeks beforehand. Business was going extremely well, and she sold about 175 fart jars at that point, making close to $100,000 in total. “I never expected it to take off the way that it has,” she said.

However, Matto recently had a health scare, changing the trajectory of her new career. According to Screen Rant, Matto upped her intake of protein, specifically beans and protein shakes, as she had a lot of orders that she wanted to send out before Christmastime. She said she felt a “squeezing tightness feeling” around her heart, and has a severe case of aplastic anemia. Shortly afterward, Matto had a friend bring her to the emergency room, where she found out that she just had really bad gas pain and was encouraged to take a gas suppressant and avoid protein-heavy foods.

Shortly after, Matto updated her fans on the news through a series of TikTok videos. One TikTok explained how she was no longer able to create fart jars anymore. In another video, she said, “Me coming home after I ended up in the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack after trying to make too many jarred farts.”

However, Matto is still in business. On Jan. 4, 2022, Matto went to Instagram to explain her current career situation. She wrote, “So by now you may have ‘caught wind’ that I am retiring from the fart jar business soon and branching out into the digital world of NFT’s!”
