Soccer Dad On 'Ireland's Got Talent' Sounds Exactly Like Elvis

Recently, a contestant on Ireland's Got Talent impressed the judges so much with his singing voice he received a Golden Buzzer. The contestant, Barry Darcy, sang the classic song 'The Wonder of You' by Elvis Presley. Judges and audience members alike were shocked at how much Barry sounded like 'The King.'

The audition from Barry was attached to a great deal of heartache. A few years before his appearance on the show, Barry lost the ability to walk. Doctors gave him a 50 percent chance to walk on his own again.

Not only is Barry walking, but he is also singing and performing on Ireland's Got Talent.

Barry explained his health problems to the judges before his audition. He said he woke up one morning and tried to get out of bed like any other day.

He said on this day he fell to the floor. Barry said it was frightening to learn once he hit the floor, he was unable to get up.

Barry was taken to a local hospital where he was diagnosed with a herniated disc. The disc affected the nerves in his back which resulted in paralysis from the waist down.

Despite the uncertain prognosis, Barry never wavered in his commitment to physical therapy.

Barry credits the love and support he received from his family for providing him with the strength to fuel his recovery. Barry's wife and two sons were on hand to watch his audition. He says the family bond is stronger than ever following his ordeal.

Barry said the song choice for his audition was also inspired by his family. He says he remembers being bound to a wheelchair and feeling both grateful and ashamed because of all the things they were doing for him. He recalls his family was able to do all this for him while fulfilling all their normal obligations.
