Snoop Dogg was born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. in Long Beach. California. He is a rapper, actor, and musician who first rose to fame in 1992, performing on the Dr. Dre’s solo debut single, “Deep Cover.” He has since sold over 23 million albums in the United States and 35 million albums worldwide. Snoop Dogg turns 50 in 2021 and has become quite the family man.

Snoop Dogg has been married to his wife, Shante Taylor, since 1997, and the couple has three children together. They have two sons named Cordé and Cordell and a daughter named Cori. Cori just graduated high school in June 2021, and the family could not be any happier or more proud of her. Cori has been through a lot of struggles, including being diagnosed with lupus at the age of 6, but her parents have always been there to support her.

In fact, Snoop Dogg had said that his daughter’s illness is what led him to stay with his wife when they considered separating. Snoop Dogg actually filed for divorce from Taylor in 2004, citing irreconcilable differences, but they decided to stay together and support Cori. The couple renewed their vows in 2008 and have been together since.

When Cori was 6, she had a light spot on her face that would not go away with time, and then drastically, she started losing weight, and her hair began to fall out. Her parents were of course terrified, and no matter what doctor they went to, they could not get any information about what was wrong with their daughter.

This was an isolating and devastating time for Snoop Dogg, who told People Magazine in 2010, “I felt helpless. No power, no friends.” Cori’s condition seemed to be getting worse.

Snoop Dogg added, “No one could tell me what was wrong. They drew tons of blood and said she has old-person cells. They gave her all kinds of (medication). But she went downhill.” Thankfully, they were eventually able to get a diagnosis for Cori, and she began treatment for lupus

According to Mayo Clinic, lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissue in many different parts of the body by mistake. There is no cure, but treatments include NSAIDs, corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, hydroxychloroquine, and methotrexate.

Cori is doing better now and gave the keynote speech at her graduation as well as performed her own song titled “Unstoppable.” Snoop Dogg said of his daughter, “She’s the toughest little thing I’ve ever met. She’s on the honor roll, playing volleyball and softball, living life. She has all this joy. In the beginning lupus was winning. But now Cori is.”

Cori has overcome mental health issues as well as her physical illness. She posted a photo on her Instagram with the caption: “Turning my pain into power.” The photo shows Cori in her graduation gown, with the word “Unstoppable” written across her back.

She also posted a photo of the ceremony itself with the caption, “Graduation Keynote Speech 2021. Today I was a Keynote Speaker at Diego Rivera Performing Arts School Class of 2021.. this all seems so surreal but I couldn’t have done it without the TEAM. I felt at home being up there speaking to the youth uplifting them.. Congrats to the class of 2021.”
