When back-to-school rolls around, parents around the world are usually given a list of school supplies to buy. If you have a child who is in a public school, then you probably know the agony of trying to make sure you buy the right types of binders, pencils, notebooks, and calculators. It can get frustrating and expensive quickly!

Not only that, but parents usually have to purchase new shoes, clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes, and more. It can really put a burden on parents who may not have a lot of extra cash to spend. Some parents have to break out the emergency credit card just to send their kids to the fifth grade!

When parents can’t afford new school items for their children, many teachers end up stepping in to help. However, the teachers who help are typically spending their own hard-earned money for school supplies. That is because they can’t stand to see a student go without the things they desperately need.

It can be just as hard for teachers to come up with the extra money for supplies as it is for parents, especially when they are parents themselves. That is why a wonderful group of sixth graders came together to help their teachers out at the beginning of the school year.

Parlin Junior High school is located in Everett, Massachusetts. The sixth-graders were able to surprise ten teachers with boxes and boxes of school supplies that they were able to collect through various means. The supplies were enough to last the teachers the whole school year.

The teachers were shocked yet extremely grateful for the boxes of supplies. Katelyn Crossley, one of the teachers who received the supplies, was very grateful for the effort. She stated that she often dips into her own wallet in order to supply students with what they need to Inside Edition.

The surprise was pulled off with some help from the Kids in Need Foundation. This organization provides money for school supplies. Just last year the foundation was able to help about 200,000 teachers with school supplies. That, in turn, helped over 6-million students get the supplies they need to grow and learn.
