Six-Year-Old Boy Using Amazon Alexa To Cheat On Homework Is Caught Redhanded By Mother

While it’s always nice to look back on school and reminisce about the good old days; truth is that very few kids who are still in elementary school actually enjoy the experience while it’s happening. Not only do students hate getting up early and spending hours at a desk, but homework is a dreaded reality for most young scholars. Six-year-old Jariel managed to find the perfect way to by-pass homework – until his mom caught him in action!

24-year-old New Jersey resident Yerelyn Cueva thought that her son was hard at work on the papers that his teacher had sent home from school, but she quickly realized that he had a sneaky way of getting the answers. In a home video that Yerelyn caught on her phone, she reveals that Jariel uses the family’s Amazon Echo system to cheat on his homework.

Sitting at a table with his work spread out in front of him, the precious little boy stands up on tiptoes and looks at the device to ask, “Alexa, what’s five minus three?” The Amazon system gives the answer but adds “if you’re really struggling”.

While the video is adorable, Yerelyn doesn’t allow her son to continue using Alexa to cheat; instead, she bursts into the room to put an end to his sly way of finding the right answers.

Although Yerelyn might not applaud her son’s actions, she certainly thought that they were cute and decided to upload them to her Twitter account with a caption about being unsure if he should be “whooped” now or later.

While Yerelyn probably intended to share the cute video with only her friends, the tweet quickly went viral with more than 8.28 million views! Needless to say, now Jariel won’t be the only one who thinks to ask Alexa for the answers.

When being interviewed by the New York Post, Yerelyn explained that it had seemed like a regular day in her household, until she heard her son asking Alexa for help. Yerelyn explains that the funniest thing is that math is Jariel's favorite subject so, rather than actually needing Alexa’s help, he was just being lazy. She also clued us in that, while she didn’t catch it on video, her son also thanked Alexa after she provided the answers.

I’d say Jariel won’t be left alone with Alexa during homework time again! Did you ever cheat when you were in grade school? Tell us in the comments and pass this cute video on to your friends and loved ones.
