Sir Paul McCartney's Grandson Looks Like Him In His Beatles Days

Nov 02, 2020 by apost team

Sir Paul McCartney is one of the UK's national treasures, earning his name with one of the most popular bands of all time, The Beatles, and never slowing down, even in his successful solo career. Some of Paul's family are also well known, including his daughter Stella McCartney, a famous fashion designer, and another daughter, photographer Mary McCartney. Her son Arthur Donald resembles his grandad Paul a lot, particularly during his Beatles days!

For anyone who has been living under a rock since the 1960s, Paul McCartney was one of the members of The Beatles, who are often considered the most influential band in pop music history ever. That's no small feat. Despite only being active for ten years together, the "Fab Four" from Liverpool, England, clearly left an indelible mark on music history and pop culture. While his Beatles days might be behind him, McCartney does make it a point to carry on the legacy of the beloved band, as well as its late frontman, John Lennon. Just last month, the 78-year-old appeared on a BBC special in honor of Lenon's 80th birthday, hosted by the late singer's son, Sean Lennon.

"I look back on it now like a fan," he said of meeting Lennon. "How lucky was I to meet this strange Teddy Boy off the bus, who played music like I did and we get together and boy, we complemented each other!"

After the Beatles dissolved, McCartney launched a solo music career and formed other bands, including with his late wife, Linda McCartney. As a couple, they had four children together, one of whom is daughter Stella McCartney, who is a well-known fashion designer in her own right. Meanwhile, another daughter, Mary McCartney, followed in her mother's footsteps and became a photographer. Her son Arthur Donald, who is Paul's eldest grandchild, turned out to look a lot like Paul, especially when comparing photos of him in his Beatles days to Arthur today!

Uncanny resemblance or not, McCartney definitely has a soft spot for all his grandchildren. Last year, on an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the doting granddad pulled out his phone to boast about his phone case, which featured a picture of the legendary musician posing with his eight grandchildren. His grandchildren, he explains, inspired him to write his children's book, Hey Grandude.

"One of them, who shall remain nameless, Beckett, just said one day 'hey Grandude', I said 'that's a great name', and that's how it started," he revealed.

Born on April 3, 1999, to Mary and Alistair Donald, Arthur is currently a student, having left his native England to study at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut. According to the Daily Mail, his grandad accompanied him to Yale when he first moved there in 2018, sending students on the campus in a slurry as they scrambled to get a glimpse – and probably a photo or two – of the former Beatles member.

While he's focusing on his studies, Arthur isn't a stranger to the spotlight, occasionally accompanying his mother and famous grandfather to red-carpet events.

In 2018, Arthur accompanied his mom Mary and granddad Paul to the My Generation premiere—a documentary narrated by Michael Caine about the heyday of the 1960s, according to The Sun. It was then that the world got a glimpse of how similar Arthur was to Paul! With his handsome boyish face, it was clear that Arthur was a chip off the old block—it was Paul's boyish charm that made him such a stud to the ladies back in the '60s! Something about both of their dark eyes and slight mischievous smiles is just irresistible to women.

It seems Arthur may even have a girlfriend—and a famous one at that! Rumored to be dating Ava Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's daughter, as the couple was spotted on a date in London back in 2018, reports Daily Mail. We must admit, they make a handsome couple for sure! And it only seems fitting that the two children of famous parents or grandparents would have a lot in common.

As Arthur is only 21, he still has a lot of his life ahead of him. We look forward to seeing what career path he chooses, although it seems he won't be following his famous grandpa into music any time soon. At least he's got his looks tying him to Paul, and we're sure the resemblance will be even more evident as Arthur grows up further!
