Most people fantasize about fleeing from the grind of their jobs and life, but very few people actually act on the impulse. Crissy Whalin, a 40-year-old single mom in Los Angeles, however, actually went for it and fled the rat-race, taking her 11-year-old son with her to travel the world on a budget.
Crissy lived in LA and had a steady job as a radio talk show host. She spent her days commuting, working, cleaning, and raising her son. The daily grind was getting to her, but she wasn't motivated to act until she lost her job.
She worked at side gigs for several months in order to save money, and then she and her son embarked on their fabulous adventure of traveling the world together, according to Parents.com.

After 18 months of travel, Crissy shook off criticism in an interview with CBSN Los Angeles by stating:
"I'm showing my son the world, not showing him an extended holiday."
Her son is having priceless, unique experiences by living in and traveling through different countries around the world, seeing different cultures and ways of life up close and personal. And if you are worried about his education, you don't need to. He is getting a conventional education through online classes.

So far, the pair has visited every single continent except Antarctica.
You may wonder how they can possibly afford such an extended romp around the world. They follow a careful budget, stay in reasonable lodgings, and avoid indulgences. In addition to savings, Crissy works two different jobs remotely on her laptop, a system that allows her to earn money from anywhere in the world.
