Barry Farmer was not the typical candidate for foster parenthood. Not only was he a single man with no partner, but he was only 21-years-old. However, after proving himself worthy to the local authorities, Barry was granted temporary custody of an eight-year-old boy named Jaxon.
Barry spent most of his youth bouncing around different homes within the foster care system. His grandmother became his legal guardian however Barry told People he had to learn to take care of himself in some ways. He says that he even learned to care for his grandmother when she needed help.

However, Barry didn't want to just live a wonderful life for himself. Instead, he wanted to provide a needy child with the type of loving and stable support.
“Becoming a foster parent was like a tribute to my grandmother because I could never pay her back, but I was definitely able to pay it forward,” he told People.
After growing up in multiple homes and dealing with the emotional trauma of constantly feeling rejected, Jaxon began to thrive in Barry's care. When Jaxon was 13, Barry applied to legally adopt him and was granted permanent custody of the lucky youth.
But Barry didn't stop there. Two years later, he took in 11-year-old Xavier and ended up permanently adopting him as well. Only a year later, the growing family took in four-year-old Jeremiah, who also became a permanent addition to the Farmer clan.
Now a thriving professional and single dad in his thirties, Barry has no regrets about his choices. He says that fatherhood gives him a purpose.
“Fatherhood has been everything I imagine it to be because I’m the father I wish I had growing up. I’m involved, I’m there when my boys go to sleep and when they wake up,” he told People.
We can't help but hope that Barry perhaps finds a lady in the not-so-distant future and we can't think of a bachelor more eligible than this loving, responsible and compassionate man. Show this story to anyone who could use a reason to feel good today.
