Singer Lily Allen Is 'Very Much In Love' With Her Husband David Harbour Of 'Stranger Things' Fame

Lily Allen is an English singer, songwriter and actress. She grew up with a good sense of what the entertainment industry had to offer as her father is actor Keith Allen and her mother is film producer Alison Owen. It's not surprising that Allen herself decided to embark on a creative career path and went from being an internet sensation to a professional performer.

Allen was born on May 2, 1985, in the West London area in England. Her music career first began back in 2005 when she uploaded vocal recordings of herself online, leading to a wide array of publicity, and soon enough found herself being played on the radio. In 2006, she released her first single called "Smile." Allen's debut album also did well, earning her Grammy Award and Brit Award nominations.

Allen has experimented with plenty of musical genres over the course of her career and has continued to receive further critical acclaim. She even hosted her own talk show in 2008 called "Lily Allen and Friends." She later appeared in the film "How to Build a Girl," and has also performed in theatrical productions.

While Allen has had a seemingly bright career, she has encountered many hardships over the course of her lifetime, including a stalking incident, pregnancy complications and a failed marriage. Fortunately, Allen is in a positive place nowadays and is married to actor David Harbour from "Stranger Things." Despite the two being well-known celebrities, they opted for a quick, inexpensive wedding in 2020 and have continued to share their love with the world ever since.

While much of Allen's music has upbeat melodies and rhythms, many of her lyrics are actually quite sad. Her album "No Shame" from 2018 depicts a very dark time in the singer's life, as she was still dealing with the emotional aftermath of a stalking incident and home intrusion, as well as her divorce from Sam Cooper, according to the BBC.

"I was definitely isolated," Allen said. "When me and Sam got together, I very much attached myself to his life. His friends became my friends; his family became my family. So when that stopped, I felt at loss."

Allen continued, "Then when the stalker thing happened, I just shut down emotionally in every way. I didn't feel like I could talk to anyone about what I was going through. I just kind of sat at home being sad.

Allen was married to builder and decorator Cooper from 2011 to 2018. During their relationship, they had several marital problems, as Allen admitted to being unfaithful. Allen also sadly had complications with her first pregnancy with Cooper and had a stillbirth. The pair later had two daughters together, whom they share custody of, according to PEOPLE. Despite their divorce, Allen and Cooper are now "both really friendly" with each other.

Since then, Allen has happily moved on and is now in a beautiful relationship with Harbour. The actor first gained widespread recognition for his role as Jim Hopper in the series "Stranger Things." He also landed the leading role in "Hellboy" in 2019 and was cast as Red Guardian in the Marvel film "Black Widow" in 2021.

According to PEOPLE, Allen and Harbour first began dating in 2019. They obtained a marriage license on Sept. 6, 2020, and tied the knot the following day in a small ceremony in Las Vegas, officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator. Afterward, the newlyweds went out for burgers.

Even though both stars have a great net worth – Allen's is $4 million while Harbour's is $6 million – they opted for a low-key ceremony to celebrate their love. Harbour posted a photo of himself and his new wife on Instagram a few days later with the caption: "In a wedding officiated by the king himself, the people's princess wed her devoted, low born, but kind credit card holder in a beautiful ceremony lit by the ashen skies courtesy of a burning state miles away in the midst of a global pandemic."

Since then, the couple has shared some of her favorite traits in one another and what really makes their relationship work so well. "I'm very much in love and happy in this relationship (with David), and communication in all areas is important," Allen told Us Weekly.

Speaking with PEOPLE, Harbour said, "Making that kind of a commitment, which I haven't for most of my life, was a huge thing for me. And it just makes you feel a little bit more like a man, to be honest. I just feel a little bit more like an adult." At the time of their wedding, Allen was 35 years old while Harbour was 45.

Harbour continued, "I married a beautiful, incredible woman who I love. I have never met someone who is so deeply kind as her. I've never felt so taken care of and cared for by another human being."
