Darius Rucker formerly from the band Hootie & The Blowfish has reinvented himself as quite a flourishing solo country singer. He has been active on the music scene for decades and takes the time to give back to the community while riding his success.

This past June 3 marked the 10th go-round of the annual Darius & Friends benefit concert, charity golf tournament, and auction reports The Daily Mail. The single event raised over $425,000 and brought the total donations over the years to $2 million. A remarkable achievement for the charity event. Rucker was joined by musicians Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Sheryl Crow, Travis Denning, and Brett Young along with 2,400 fans in Nashville. A surprise guest also showed up to the festivities: Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley. The event is often regarded as the unofficial kick-off to the Country Music Awards Fest. The stars came out for a good cause.

"I was struck on that first visit by how St. Jude not only cares for their patients but also their patients' families," said Rucker in an announcement. "They believe that a financial burden is the last thing a family should face when their focus needs to be on helping a kid get better, and St. Jude makes sure that their patients never pay a dime. It's an honor for us to be able to help them continue such an important mission."

The kindness of the superstar towards others in need is incredible, and St. Jude’s is a wonderful place to focus that kindness towards. No doubt the donations will be going to worthwhile causes such as finding cures for childhood illnesses and taking care of those young kids that are in need. Thank you to Darius and the other musicians of the benefit event.
