Dogs and humans have developed one of the closest bonds in the entire animal kingdom. There are no other species that compliment each other better than canines and humans. Although the exact dates are disputed, humans have been domesticating dogs for over 14,000 years. In fact, some experts estimate that this domestication process could have started as early as 36,000 years ago.

Either way, it is clear that humans and dogs have been developing this close relationship for thousands of years. Although most dog owners aren't well-versed in this history, they still feel a close and inseparable bond with their furry friends.

It almost feels as if there is an unspoken agreement between dogs and humans to look after and protect one another.

Unfortunately, there are some people who don't want to reciprocate the unconditional love offered by dogs. While it is obvious that not every person enjoys being around dogs, some people decide to go out of their way to be mean to these amazing animals.

Whether hurting a stray dog or abandoning a puppy on the street, the stories of these horrific situations are seemingly endless. Fortunately, there are many shelters and non-profit organizations who are dedicated to saving these poor dogs.

The families and individuals who adopt these rescued dogs are also heroes. Everybody loves to hear the heart-warming stories about dogs who found a second chance with a loving family.

Meatball was once a lonely shelter puppy who had been rescued from the streets. The Fresno Bully Rescue posted a picture of Meaty online, and the pit bull's luck changed instantly. Lisa Reilly saw the picture of Meaty and instantly knew that he would make an excellent addition to her growing family of rescue dogs.

In fact, Lisa had once owned a dog that looked exactly like Meaty. That dog had since passed away, and Lisa was looking for another dog. The timing couldn't have been better. Lisa contacted the shelter and arranged to adopt Meaty the following week.

Meaty's new owners have started an Instagram account for the photogenic dog. It is clear that he is more than happy with his new family. His owner recently got married, and Meaty was even an esteemed member of the wedding party.

In every picture, Meaty has a massive smile on his face that stretches from cheek to cheek.

When he's not playing a role in weddings, Meaty enjoys playing with his fellow rescue dogs or snuggling with his new owners.
