It is always uplifting to receive a compliment about your style or to know your style elicits admiration among your peers. But what if your peers think you have no style, even if you make all the effort to look the part? That is what Sinatra and Martin thought about their friend Crosby.
In this clip from the 1964 movie Robin and the 7 Hoods, members of the Rat Pack break out in song, as they hilariously declare you either have style or you don't.
You must know them if you watched the movie Robin and the 7 hoods. The film from 1964 was about a group of criminals in 1920 and starred Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr. The film chronicles their fortunes, which can best be described as a rollercoaster ride.
In one scene, Sinatra and Martin are given grief by the suit that Crosby is wearing. In their opinion, whatever Crosby considers formal wear is nowhere near official. You have to understand that when they were starring in this film, they were among the most fashionable men in Hollywood.

One of the best parts of the movies is when the characters burst into song, telling Dean Martin that when it comes to style and class, you either have it or don't. It is hilarious that they are saying that to him, yet Martin looks flamboyant in the clip.
Of course, times change and with time, the men improve their style and rank to what they considered presentable. Their suits as the clip ends are notably different, but they will still leave you in stitches, especially when they gang up against one of them and dismiss his sense of style by claiming that he looks like an unmade bed.
How can one walk around looking like an unmade bed and still walk about as if he is on top of the world? Well, I guess some people just cannot conform to what we consider normal. Or they never seem to get it when it comes to fashion matters.
Some are just minimalists and are happy with themselves regardless of their appearances. You probably know some people who are like that. They never seem to try to look good, even if you know they have the means.
There is another group, however, who will try to look their best even though when it comes to class, they can't seem to get it right. What do you think could be the issue? Is this the group that doesn't have it?
So, what about those who criticize others even when they have made a notable effort to improve? How would you react to what was happening to Martin who was being judged on the premises that "you either have it or don't", no matter how hard he had worked to change his style.
Sometimes, however, the criticism from our peers could work to open our eyes to our fashion disasters, thus allowing us to work towards getting better. Think about a comment you received that you once considered mean, but when you reflected on what was said to you, you concluded that the person who commented actually had a point.
Watch the clip between Martin, Sinatra, and Crosby. It will leave you in stitches, and make you realize that you can criticize humorously and still get the person to change for the better.
If you have friends that you think will appreciate the clip and learn a lesson from it, do not hesitate to tell them about it. Don't forget to leave us a comment about the lessons you learn from this clip too.
