Simon Rolls Eyes As Nine-Year-Old Says She’ll Sing Céline Dion Classic, Proceeds To Show Her Undeniable Skill To The Crowd

With so much talent blooming all over the world, it's no surprise that talent shows of all kinds are popular on television. "America's Got Talent" is a talent competition show that has been airing since 2006. With over 380 episodes, the show features hopeful contestants who are all competing for the winning prize of one million dollars. From singers to dancers to magicians, 'AGT' allows a wide variety of acts to compete on the show. The British version of the series followed the American one's debut shortly after in June 2007. Susan Boyle was one of the most famous winners to come from the "Got Talent" series as a whole, as she stunned audiences with her brilliantly beautiful voice. The series was named the world's most successful reality TV format by Guinness World Records in 2014, as it had spin-offs in over 68 countries at the time. While there have been many different judges throughout the seasons, one constant — and the show's creator — is the infamous tough judge, Simon Cowell. Known for his harsh critiques, even Cowell can be impressed if a contestant's act is good enough quality.

In this video from 2017, Simon Cowell's first impression of a then nine-year-old Celine Tam may have been lackluster, but this talented little lady got the audience to their feet in seconds and caught Simon's eye in the process.

Simon has rightfully earned his reputation for being a tough, opinionated judge on top talent shows, and he also has a knack for identifying truly talented individuals.

When the young girl first came on stage, Simon Cowell was anything other than impressed. Simon Cowell is known for being one of the harshest and most critical judges on talent competition shows. He's a record executive, television personality and entrepreneur, and has also used his platform for the betterment of others, engaging in philanthropic activities over the years. "The X Factor," "Britain's Got Talent," "America's Got Talent" and "American Idol" are some of the most popular shows on Cowell's resume.

The talent judge, who is notorious for his signature line "I don't mean to be rude, but…" (also the title of his book, by the way), has been on the panel countless times. For auditions that do not go so well, Cowell has never shied away from giving his most honest feedback. Some of his most brutal quotes ever documented include: "There is as much chance of you being a pop star or a rock star as me flying to the moon tomorrow morning for breakfast. It's never going to happen," and "If the judging criteria or the voting criteria here was to vote people through for managing to sing every note out of tune, you would win tonight." 

Celine Tam is appropriately named after her favorite musical artist, Céline Dion, as she explains in the video. Céline Dion is one of the most impressive musical powerhouses of our time, and many adults who try to sing her songs on shows like 'America's Got Talent' pale in comparison.

However, young Celine proved herself worthy of singing the great Céline Dion's songs almost as soon as she started her performance on stage.

She chose to sing "My Heart Will Go On," which was one of the first Céline Dion songs that her parents ever heard her sing. Her parents admitted that they were huge Céline Dion fans and that their daughter was actually named after her.

They were not prepared for their little Celine to have musical prowess to rival Céline Dion’s. Over the years, they recognized and nurtured their daughter’s vocal talent. With all of their time, energy, and effort, Celine Tam finally got her chance to prove her impressive skills on 'America’s Got Talent.' 

Once she started singing this Céline Dion song on stage, the audience quickly recognized the girl’s talent and rose to their feet. After the performance, it was clear that her talent wowed the judges as well. Altogether, Celine Tam sang a truly challenging song flawlessly. Her sweet yet powerful voice was perfectly emotional yet polished and precise.

This family continues to share a mutual passion and love of Céline Dion songs. It is not surprising to learn that the couple named little Celine’s baby sister Dionne. It is too soon to tell if young Dionne will be as vocally talented as her big sister.
