When a couple running a chimpanzee rescue operation in Africa came across a sickly puppy, they knew they had to help. But the story of the puppy’s recovery took an unexpected turn when the couple got a big assist from an unexpected source.

Jenny Desmond and her husband Jim run the Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue. While driving along the streets of a village in Liberia one day, Jenny came across a tiny puppy that seemed to be very sick and frail. She named the tiny puppy Snafu and brought it back to the chimpanzee sanctuary. Snafu had a bad skin infection, needed to be dewormed, and was clearly suffering from malnutrition.

Jenny’s husband Jim helped her nurse the tiny puppy back to health, even giving the pup liquids via an IV to combat dehydration. Slowly, Snafu began to regain her strength.

As she got stronger, Snafu was allowed to interact with the chimpanzees at the sanctuary. Surprisingly, the chimpanzees loved holding and snuggling the tiny puppy, who seem to relish all the attention. The chimpanzees spent hours playing games with Snafu and she continued to recover and grow.

When it came time for Snafu to find a forever home, Jenny sent her back to America to live with her sister and brother-in-law in Colorado who have two young daughters. Thanks to all the special care Snafu received from Jenny, Jim, and the chimpanzees, she has gone from a puppy at death’s door to a healthy and happy canine companion.

Send this story of chimpanzees helping to care for a sickly puppy to all your animal-loving friends. It will surely brighten their day.
