Young children with a lot of talent are some of the most surprising and awe-inspiring contestants on talent shows. Seeing someone as young as 6 years old singing like a pro, however, is truly inspiring. The old saying "Children should be seen and not heard" seems outdated after one sees young Gloria take on "The Voice Kids" in France with her rendition of "La Vie En Rose." Originally aired in 2016, the episode showcases that the young girl was able to knock the judges off their feet with her beautiful voice. Maybe the saying should be changed to "Children should sing a little more." This video left us speechless, and it has likely made many peoples' days.

We love talent shows for many reasons: the glitz and glam, the opportunity for ordinary people with extraordinary talent to showcase their best selves and the emotion that is evoked when an extremely gifted person gives us a glimpse into the magic of their skill. When it comes to singing especially, popular shows such as "The Voice" and "American Idol" have shown the world that anyone with talent and skill can become a household name if they can work hard to develop their raw power. Think to yourself: on these shows, how many times have you been swept away by a song that is reborn through a unique rendition from an unlikely singing talent like Kelly Clarkson?

Six-year-old Gloria is one such person whose talent is a diamond that is already sparkling. With the right training, she could become a big star in the music industry when she grows up. She chose to sing the song "La Vie En Rose" for her blind audition on the fifth season of the French installment of "The Voice Kids" in 2016. The song, which translates to "Life in Pink," roughly meaning "seeing life through rose-colored glasses," in English and was a tune popularized by legendary French vocalist Édith Piaf

Gloria might not have had the experience of an in-her-prime Piaf, but the young girl did quite well, especially for her age. Gloria was seemingly very nervous, as she darted her eyes around the studio. Even the most talented person with a lot of experience gets nervous when facing judges on shows such as "The Voice," so it is only normal that young Gloria was a little overwhelmed by her surroundings! However, like most singers, she seems to have quickly become comfortable performing as she moved into her element and became lost in the song.

She was in front of the three judges and the packed studio audience as her voice remained strong and she hit all the notes correctly. Her rendition of the song promptly captivated all those listening to it. The song is a true classic and known across the world, and the judges silently sang along with Gloria, taken by the song and the music. One judge even grabbed her own heart to reveal the singing touched an emotional chord.

One of the judges quite quickly pressed her button and turned around, thus giving young Gloria a seat in the next part of the competition. By the end of her singing, all three judges had turned around and wanted Gloria on their team. As the song ended, the studio audience gave young Gloria a standing ovation. All three judges were surprised when they turned around, most probably by how little Gloria was!

We can only imagine the full reaction of the television audience watching the performance. The fact that she could sing beautifully enough to pique the interest of all the judges on the show definitely means that Gloria has a bright future ahead of her. Even though she did not win the season, she showed the potential to become a great singer in her future. Could this have been the beginning of a long career for Gloria? It may very well be. While there have been no recent updates as of yet about where Gloria is today, we may be hearing from her soon enough as soon as she polishes her talent.

The song "La Vie En Rose" is one of Piaf's most recognized songs in the world, along with the song "Non, je ne regrette rein." She also has other notable works that have had a major impact on the French music industry.  Britannica reports that Piaf's interpretation of the "chanson," or French ballad, is what made her internationally famous. However, Piaf's personal life was quite turbulent and filled with sorrow, and her singing style also reflected these tragedies.

Britannica writes that Edith Piaf was born as Edith Giovanna Gassion in Paris in 1915 but was abandoned by her birth mother who was a cafe singer. She was then taken in by her grandmother, who raised her in a brothel. She suffered from meningitis at the age of 3 and lost her eyesight, but was thankfully able to regain it four years later. She joined her father, who was a circus acrobat, and accompanied him while he performed, earning a meager living and spending her time with petty thieves. She was discovered by a cabaret owner, Louis Leplée, who gave her her first nightclub job in 1935. Leplée would affectionately call her "la môme piaf,” a Parisian term for "little sparrow," which referenced her small size. She was under 5 feet tall and weighed only about 90 pounds. She later adopted the name "Piaf" professionally.

After her first theatrical debut in 1935, Piaf began singing in Parisian music halls and garnered fame across France. Her signature voice and expressive singing style were able to move audiences with passionate renditions that covered topics such as loss and love. Unfortunately, Piaf went through a few more tragedies in her life, namely the death of her partner Marcel Cerdan, who died in a plane crash on the way to meet her, and several of her own serious car accidents through the years.

Classicalite reports that Piaf penned "La Vie En Rose" in a pavement cafe on the streets of Paris in 1945. WWII had just ended, leaving all those involved with the daunting task of rebuilding and recuperation. This song by the acclaimed Piaf was able to lift the French spirit in the darkest of times and remains a beloved song for the French nation even today. The powerful song also made ripples across the United States when it was first heard and has been used in numerous television shows and movies over the years. The song is still as sweet and fresh as it was over 70 years ago, and little Gloria on "The Voice Kids France" gave it a beautiful new second wind. We wish her the best in her future endeavors!
