Many of us know that Shirley Temple was a curly-haired child star, but not many people know that she was so much more before her passing in 2014 at the age of 85. On the day that would have been her 90th birthday, all of her friends and family got together to celebrate her accomplishments and her life.

In April of 1928, Gertrude Amelia Temple and George Francis Temple brought their third child home. Shirley Temple melted hearts all around the town of Santa Monica, California. When she was a small child, it was obvious she was going to be a star. Her mother encouraged her to follow her dreams and embrace her artistic skills. Shirley was then enrolled in a dance school in Los Angeles in 1931 and she rose to the very top of her class.

Just months after she enrolled in the dance school, she started to gain the attention of many around Hollywood. She was cast in her very first role at the age of just three years old. She had a few small roles, but she finally got her first big break on Stand Up and Cheer!, a film. Even though she was quickly rising in fame, Shirley never let it go to her head.

Over the next years, she had many iconic roles such as Curly Top, Bright Eyes, and Heidi. A few years after these roles, she got married for the first time and had a child, Linda Susan. However, the marriage didn’t last and she split with her husband after five years.

She soon got married again. She had found her soulmate. Shirley and her second husband had two more children, Charles Jr. and Lori. She spent her life out of the spotlight. She had found her true calling in her family. However, there was something missing. Shirley wanted to give back to the world.

She became a social activist. Shirley was the United States ambassador for Czechoslovakia and Ghana. She even served in the United States as the Chief of Protocol.
When speaking of their mother, Shirley’s children said that she wasn’t like any other person. They spoke of their travels, their fun times, and her creative imagination. They hardly ever noticed her fame other than when someone would ask for an autograph.

She was a dedicated mother who lived for her husband and children. We are amazed by this wonderful woman!
