Shelter Pup Insists That Volunteers Tuck Him In Every Night Before Bed

Prince was shaking and scared when he first came to the shelter that is run by Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. He used to be a family pet. However, when his first owner was not able to care for him any longer, he then went on to stay with the girlfriend of the owner.

However, that did not last long, either. He managed to slip out of his leash when they were out walking one day. No one had any idea where he went until he was picked up by animal control.

The girlfriend was made aware that Prince was at the shelter. However, even though she told workers there that she would pick him up, she never showed up. Prince hasn’t left the shelter since. He is currently being cared for there by shelter workers who are hoping he can find a good home soon.

Prince had a pretty hard time adjusting to his new life in the shelter. He was skittish and terrified of everything.

It was truly heartbreaking to see how he acted.

No one knows just how he was treated before he came to the shelter, but it seems as though he is scared from all the different owners he has had.

Nancy Haynes is the director of enrichment and behavior at the Humane Society of Mohawk Hudson. She said that it took a very long time for Prince to warm up to them after arriving at the shelter. He would cower and shake in his kennel whenever someone approached it.

He would also stay curled up in the corner, away from anyone who tried to coax him out. He was scared of the humans that were trying to help him.

Luckily, the shelter staff realized that there was something Prince did enjoy- being tucked in. They found this out when a staff member was cuddling with him before leaving for the night. As he got up from the doggy bed, he pulled the blanket around Prince to tuck him in. Right then and there he realized how much Prince seemed to like it. What a sweet dog!

Word quickly spread throughout the shelter and before long everyone was eager to take turns tucking the adorable dog in at night. Haynes said that he will not get into his bed until a staff member comes into his kennel. He will then climb into his bed and allow himself to be tucked in for the night,

Prince is an adorable dog who is very sweet to people. He loves to snuggle and will lick your face as soon as he sees you, according to Haynes. However, he has yet to find a forever home. Haynes feels it may be because he is still skittish when people approach his kennel. He is hoping this will change very soon so that he can find a family who will take him home and love him forever.

Haynes said that it would be best if Prince went to a home that did not have other dogs in it. He says that he is smart, energetic, easy, and takes well to training. He believes that he will make a great companion for somebody once he gets adopted.
