Shelter Dog Hopped Into Random UPS Van And Has Life Changed Forever

Just like thousands of other dogs in similar situations, one dog named Ernie was currently living at a shelter wondering why no one wanted to take him home.

After so long of being up for adoption with no prospects seeking to make him their pet, he was beginning to wonder if he would ever find a family of his own.

However, he was about to get the surprise of a lifetime after one amazing encounter. It all started with a woman named Cindy Grisanti.

According to the dodo, she volunteers at Ernie’s temporary home, City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, and often takes the dogs for walks in order to give them some mental and physical stimulation.

On one particular day, everything changed for Ernie while he was out for his walk. While trotting down the street, Ernie spotted a UPS truck with a driver in it. The driver’s name was Jason, and although this was Ernie’s first time seeing him, we have to wonder if Ernie knew that the two would have a connection.

"Call him up to the truck and he pretty much just hopped up in, and I was like okay," Jason  told WKBW, "He hopped up and just sat there and did not want to leave."

Ernie happily greeted Jason like he’d known him forever, and the two shared a moment while Jason invited him up onto the truck for some pets, scratches, and snuggles.

Ernie was so enamored with the driver that he even licked his face and showed him plenty of affection!

However, it was time for Jason to get back to work, so Cindy and Ernie continued their walk.

Although Jason went about his day delivering packages for work, he couldn’t get the dog off his mind.

For weeks, he thought about what would happen to Ernie and wondered if he had a home yet. However, once he saw Ernie on social media and realized he was still up for adoption, he knew he had to change the dog’s situation. While Jason discussed the prospect of adopting a dog with his relatives, he decided that it was the right time to give the dog a forever home.

"I wanted him to have a good home." Said Jason.

Thankfully, Ernie now has a loving owner that will take care of him for the rest of his days. Jason and Ernie are very appreciative and thankful for each other and have a connection that began from their initial meeting.

Volunteers at the shelter were overjoyed with Ernie and Jason’s story, and are thankful the dog is now in good hands. What do you think about this story? Would you ever rescue a shelter dog? Let us know in the comments - and make sure you pass this along to your friends and family!
