Honeycake was just one of the kittens in a shelter that was waiting for someone to adopt him. A long time passed, and he was still not getting applications for adoptions. If things continued on in the same manner, he was bound to be put down eventually.

Fortunately for him, the Michigan Cat Rescue group heard about Honeycake's case. They decided to save him by finding providing him with shelter in which he could safely wait for his rightful owner without being put on death row in the process.

It was a couple of months after being taken in the shelter before Honeycake was visited by someone who wanted him. It was a nurse by the name of Renee that came to claim him. It was obvious that she was the rightful owner – the two bonded immediately.

The golden-colored kitty was so excited and knew that this was his owner. He began licking and hugging his new owner straight away. Fortunately for him, a kind-hearted woman took him in and promised that from now on that he will receive only hugs and kisses.

Honeycake became Finnegan the same day. As Finnegan was licking Renee's hand, she told the people shooting the video of the heartwarming scene that she was in love with this cat.

Two years after the video was shot, Renee and Finnegan still live together and love each other as much as the first day that they met. The cat turned out to be very cuddly and always loves hugging and kissing his mother.

This story was made possible by the shelter that Michigan Cat Rescue provided for Honeycake. It is not the first story of true love that this shelter made possible. In the beginning of 2019, the shelter shared a video of a cat named Hennie finding her new home.

As in Finnegan's case, Hennie was left in a kill shelter where the group saved her just before her time came to be put down. Now, the cat has a happy home where she can be loved and love.

Another success story is that of a cat named Sweet Potato. The 4-year-old cat weighed 15 pounds when he arrived at the shelter. Even with all the odds seemingly against it, the cat found its owners there and now has a happy home.
