Sharon Osbourne Reverts Back To Red After Not Liking Gray Hair

Oct 16, 2020 by apost team

Sharon Osbourne might be most remembered for being a redhead, but in recent months the co-host of The Talk debuted a distinguished gray hairdo. It was certainly a big change for her and her fans—seemingly so big that she hadn't quite adjusted to it and has had to go back to her signature red! She debuted the return to her (colored) roots on Monday's episode of The Talk.

Although she's worn her hair in many different shades, Sharon Osbourne is probably best associated with her vivid red hair, which she's worn consistently for almost two decades since 2002. Often changing the intensity of the red or adding other colors to it, the co-host of The Talk decided to let her natural gray hair come through when she stopped dying it red and went a cool, icy gray earlier this year. She put this down to being tired of having to dye it red every week.

While Sharon looked fantastic with her slick gray hairdo, it definitely got the press talking—after all, so much of her identity was tied to her red hair! Well, now, after a few months she's gone and dyed it back to red. And why shouldn't she, it's her prerogative. She explained the move back to her (colored) roots on Monday's episode of The Talk, and she also posted a clip of segment to her Instagram with the caption

"What color should I try next? 🌈"

In the clip, her co-host Carrie Ann Inaba asks her about the return to her red hair and Sharon explains she saw herself in the mirror and didn't like what she saw, saying:

"I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and I'm like, 'Nah, you look like Grandma Clampett."

Grandma Clampett was a character on the 1960s sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. She continued:

"And then I thought to myself, 'Nah, I'm changing it back.' And that's what I did."

All power to her! It takes a lot of guts to try something new, especially after nearly two decades, decide it's not for you and then go back to what you had before. Especially in such a public way. After being asked by her co-hosts if it had anything to do with her birthday, which was on October 9, she admitted it did. She thanked everyone for helping make her birthday very special, but ultimately it did affect her decision to go back to her signature red hair.

The change in hair also comes one week after Sharon opened up on The Talk about her and husband Ozzy's sex life in their old age. After being asked by her co-hosts if there was any of that on her birthday weekend, she also admitted there was.

It's refreshing to see a woman of a certain age be so comfortable with herself in all areas of her life and inspire others to be more open with themselves too.
