Shania Twain Makes Her ACM Awards Hosting Debut at 60 and the New Look She Arrived In Had Everyone Talking

Shania Twain has been one of country music's most enduring icons for more than three decades. The singer, born Aug. 28, 1965, first broke through with her self-titled debut album in 1993, before the release of "Come On Over" in 1997 made her a global phenomenon. That album remains the best-selling album by a female artist in history and the best-selling country album of all time. She has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, earned five Grammy Awards, and spent years as one of the most recognizable names in popular music.

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, she added a new title to that list. Twain hosted the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas — the first time she had ever taken on the hosting role in the show's history. For a woman who had spent decades walking those red carpets as a performer and nominee, standing on that stage as the one running the show was a different kind of moment altogether.

For Twain, the night also carried personal significance. Las Vegas has been her home base for years — she held a long-running residency at Caesars Palace — and the city has always brought out a particular version of her. Confident, theatrical, and completely at ease in the spotlight. She knew exactly what kind of night she wanted to have. And she arrived dressed to match every bit of it.

What nobody expected — or at least nobody saw coming quite so boldly — was the transformation waiting on the red carpet. At 60, with the whole of country music watching, Shania Twain showed up looking like a completely different woman. And the internet had a great deal to say about it.

Twain wore a floor-length strapless sequin gown from Falguni Shane Peacock's Ashen Roses Collection — a fitted silver design with a cinched waist, firework-like metallic patterning across the bodice, and a dramatic black sequin panther on the skirt. She paired the look with black leather gloves that nearly reached her armpits, silver drop earrings, and a silver necklace. The look drew immediate comparisons to her most iconic on-stage fashion moments.

And then there were the bangs. Twain debuted a freshly cut fringe for the event — a noticeably different look that caught fans off guard in the best possible way. The comments flooded in quickly.

"Beautiful and classy FOREVER!"

wrote one Instagram user. "The icon has arrived," wrote another. A third wrote simply: "MAN, she feels like a beautiful woman!"

"I'm thrilled to be hosting the 61st ACM Awards in Las Vegas, a place that feels like home," she said ahead of the show.

It's such an honor to be part of this incredible night celebrating country music's biggest stars, especially with so many talented women leading nominations this year. I can't wait to welcome all of the fans and artists out for this unforgettable night."

At 60, Twain is in a chapter that looks nothing like the one the industry might have predicted for her. She is hosting major award shows, debuting new looks, and showing up with the same confidence that made her an icon in the first place. The bangs, the panther gown, the gloves, and the stage — all of it landed exactly as intended. For a woman who once told the world that that don't impress her much, Shania Twain continues to impress everyone else.
