It's been said that being confined in a room for days alone can make you go mad. Imagine being subjected to such torture for years. Recently, seventeen bears were liberated from captivity that saw them spend their lives confined in a dark, cold concrete pit. Thanks to a team of rescuers, the bears got to enjoy natural sunlight, and the mix of relief and joy could be seen in their reactions.

Naturally, bears are known to love their space and freedom. Their natural habitats are out in the wild where they can get to feed themselves, reproduce, and take care of their offspring. Unfortunately, for this particular sleuth of bears, they were denied the freedom by being confined to dark little cold concrete pits located in Black Forest Bear Park in Helen, Georgia.

The seventeen bears kept at Black Forest Bear Park were confined to nearly featureless concrete pits. Showing signs of extreme stress and having little protection from the weather and environment, the animals had to beg visitors for pieces of apple and bread, according to PETA. Black Forest Bear Park had been cited by the government for its unsafe conditions of its enclosures for the bears.

Fortunately, humanity still exists, and the Atlanta Humane Society, in conjunction with PETA, organized a few of their members and sent them on a rescue mission. The mission’s goal was to retrieve these misunderstood and ill-treated animals. The bears were released and relocated to a wildlife sanctuary situated in Keenesburg, Colorado.

Two pregnant female bears known as Ursula and O.B. were moved to the sanctuary so they were able to give birth to their cubs in more comfortable surroundings.

Thanks to the organization, its team, and efforts, the bears can now live in relative freedom in the wildlife sanctuary without a care in the world about being caged and confined. Their paws can now get to touch the ground, they can roll in the grass, receive excellent veterinary care for themselves and their cubs, and eat whatever they like.

The images of the bears as they taste freedom will warm your heart. Even if the bears can’t communicate, we know for sure from the video that they are happy and free! Doesn’t this story light up your day? Feel free to lighten other people’s moods today with this piece.
