Service Dog Collapses Into Her Owner's Arms After Being Stolen

Jul 22, 2020 by apost team

Earlier this month, Bobby Linville was sent into a panic when his young service dog Baby Girl Blue was stolen away from him.

It's impossible to overstate the significance of service dogs for those that are in need. The lives they help are changed forever for the better. Not only do they provide a constant companion for those who are lonely, but they also help people cope with their mental and health issues in ways that they would never be able to do alone. It's difficult to imagine the lives of those who would lose such noble companion animals.

Baby Girl Blue is a mixed breed dog, however, it was apparent that she was primarily a Siberian Husky. The Husky mix was robbed from the back of Bobby's van while he was out and about.

Bobby was incredibly panicked because not only did his canine companion provide him with emotional support, but she also alerted him about any oncoming seizures and spotted signs that Bobby could never recognize as quickly as the observant pup, CBS 17 reports. He also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, so the loss of Baby Girl Blue was hitting him particularly hard.

WAVY-TV met up with Linville so he could tell his story and make a public plea for help finding his service dog, which provides him with emotional and physical support. Bobby explained, “I don’t care about my van. My boss owns a car lot, I can get another vehicle. A vehicle is a dime a dozen, but my dog, you can’t replace that. My dog was my right-hand man or woman, you know what I’m saying? Like, my best friend, my everything, I’m trying not to cry as we speak."

Bobby explains just how important his dog was to him emotionally as well, and you can see how seriously the reporter takes him by the abundance of concern on her expression. For a man who has so little, it's clear that his Siberian Husky mix was truly his everything.

Fortunately for the suffering man, Bobby would be eventually reunited with his pooch after a week of being apart. Once the news segment aired on television, staff members at the Norfolk Animal Care Center were able to put two and two together about one of the mixed breed dogs they'd taken in a week prior.

A police officer had dropped off the dog, and the team debated what breed the dog was before settling on a Husky mix. However, they had no idea who owned the lost gal. She was not chipped, and she was not wearing any identifying information on her at all. However, the shelter team did recognize that the dog was particularly well behaved; it was apparent that this dog had some level of skilled companion training.

The Norfolk Animal Care Center quickly got in contact with Bobby thanks to seeing him and his plea on the local news. They set up a time for a reunion, and Bobby couldn't be happier! However, before the reunion, the shelter groomed up Baby Girl Blue and provided her with a round of much-needed vaccines.

They also implanted the Husky mix with a microchip so that if she ever went missing again, the pup would be able to be returned to her forever home as soon as possible. Bobby was overjoyed, and he thanked the team for taking such good care of his dog. Bobby set up a GoFundMe page after being reunited with Baby Girl Blue; he hopes that he's able to get a new van soon for work. However, he says that nothing matters more to him as much as Baby Girl Blue does. Thankfully, this story does have a happy ending!
