In a relationship, there are a lot of things that you would do for your partner. In the case of Cody Corwin, a 26-year-old man from Michigan, he went above and beyond any possible expectations. The grandmother of his girlfriend was suffering from a genetic condition that impacted her liver. When he saw how much Bernice Ramsay was suffering, he knew that he had to do something for the 71-year-old woman.

While he already knew that she needed help, when she fell into a coma in August 2018 he took action. He saw just how critical her situation was and wanted to help both her and his girlfriend. Corwin and Shelby Platt had been dating for around 3 years before Bernice fell into a coma. He had already fallen in love with both Shelby and her family and this development was devastating to him as well.

Nobody in Bernice's family was a match for a transplant and he wasn't sure if he was one either. He took the initiative to get the testing done to see if he was compatible. When Corwin found out that he and Bernice were a perfect match, he knew what he had to do. Without any hesitation, he decided to go ahead with donating part of his liver and was elated to be able to help Bernice fight through her struggle with the condition.

When interviewed by Inside Edition, he stated that it wasn't a matter of if, but a matter of when he was going to go through with the surgery. While Shelby's family asked him to think about his decision more, he already knew what he had to do. Without any deliberation, Corwin scheduled the surgery that would save his girlfriend's grandma's life.

Corwin loved the elderly woman and wanted to help her however he could. He knew what he needed to do and took the chance to ease her suffering. On February 25, the surgery took place. Currently, Corwin and Bernice are recovering after the successful transplant despite her diabetes. Corwin was never worried about his own health, he was just nervous that the liver would be rejected by her body.

His girlfriend told Good Morning America that his actions made her love him even more. Bernice calls Corwin her superhero and everyone is excited that she will be able to attend Shelby and Corwin's wedding.
