Senior Saint Bernard Survives For 2 Weeks Alone In The Cold

Azure Davis of Minnesota was enjoying an exciting new chapter in her life. She'd just brought an elderly Saint Bernard appropriately named Old Lady home as a foster dog. Although Old Lady was a bit shy and apprehensive about her new foster home, she had a sweet and gentle spirit to which Davis instantly felt a connection. But happiness soon turned to horror.

As Old Lady was being brought to her new home, she became scared and bolted towards the woods.

Although Old Lady was a sweet dog, she'd had a rough background, as she was part of a rescue operation from a dangerous and abusive puppy mill.

It's bad enough when a pet wanders away from their home, but this particular situation was especially dire. Not only was Old Lady unfamiliar with her new home and without a real sense of the lay of the land, but it was Minnesota in the dead of winter.

The temperatures were dangerously low and the entire terrain was covered in a blanket of thick snow. Neighbors and friends of Davis quickly rallied to action.

They organized a search party and began combing the woods, trying desperately to find Old Lady and bring her to safety.

But as two heartbreaking weeks passed without any sighting of the sweet old dog, the odds of her safe retrieval were diminishing.

Temperatures had dropped below zero during that fortnight and it became a real possibility that Old Lady may have succumbed to the dangerous weather conditions.

Just as it started to feel as if hope was lost, a man and his grandson hiking in the woods miraculously found Old Lady, who was cold and hungry but still alive. Old Lady was returned to Davis, who was ecstatic to see her again.

Although Old Lady was still skittish and spooked by what had transpired over the past two weeks, this time she did not run again.

Instead, she slowly grew to trust her new foster mom and become acclimated to her new home.

We hope that Old Lady finds her forever family and enjoys her final years. Despite spending much of her life in a horrific puppy mill, Old Lady's spirit and will to survive could never be crushed.
