Senior Dogs Looking For New Home After Being Left Behind By Owners In Petco Bathroom

Jul 03, 2019 by apost team

It was a quiet Saturday night in Allen Park, Michigan when a couple visited a Petco store with their two senior dogs. Both dogs were only wearing leashes without collars when they came in, and their owners were just there to pick up a few items. But they ended up abandoning the two pups in the pet store's bathroom and running off.

The unexpected events of that night started off innocuously. July Sly, a shopper at Petco, wrote on Facebook that staff members approached the couple about needing collars for their dogs. They responded that they had left their collars at home and walked to the back of the store. Then they mysteriously vanished from the store.

At first, store employees thought that the couple had simply decided to leave with their dogs. It wasn’t until they heard a strange noise coming from the bathroom that they learned what had actually happened.

The staff of Petco began to hear helpless cries and barks coming from their public bathroom, so they went in to investigate what was going on. They couldn’t believe what they found inside. The couple had left the two dogs alone in the bathroom, confused and abandoned. The staff looked inside and outside for the couple, but they had simply disappeared after abandoning the two senior dogs.

Since being abandoned, the dogs have been getting the care that they need after showing signs of heartworm and overbreeding. They have been renamed Daffodil and Marigold by animal rescuers. Lauren Boesen was part of the rescue operation. She works for P.O.E.T Animal Rescue and was happy to step in and help. She does not know the circumstances the dogs came from or why the owners did what they did. She believes that they may have thought a pet store was a safe place to drop off the dogs.

"We are happy the dogs are now getting the care and attention that they so richly deserve," Boesen told FOX 2 News, "We hope that they both live out their lives healthy and loved."
