Selfie Keeps Innocent 21-Year-Old From Impending 99-Year Prison Sentence

Have you ever thought taking a selfie might save your life? Well, it’s actually happened. Two years ago, Christopher Precopia was surprisingly arrested at his work for a gruesome crime. This was something he was totally not expecting. I mean, imagine showing up to your regular job and having a team of police officers appear to arrest you.

His accuser was an ex-girlfriend from a long time ago. In fact, they had not been in contact for some time and had not really been around each other since they dated in high school. Unfortunately, as in most situations like these, it was her word against his. The hearsay and oral statements did not paint Christopher Precopia in a positive light. Even though he was innocent, his accuser stated that he entered her home by force and physically assaulted her. She even claimed that Christopher had used a box cutter to slice an 'X' above her chest.

He had reportedly said that the whole event was a nightmare. It completely blindsided him. His parents were able to take out loans to pay his exorbitant bail of $150,000. Luckily, his own mother was able to prove his innocence. At the alleged time of the attack, Christopher Precopia had taken a selfie with his family at the Renaissance Austin Hotel in Texas. The selfie was dated at 7:02 p.m. and his accuser stated he assaulted her at 7:20 p.m., more than seventy miles away. It was understood by the court it was not realistically possible for him to travel that distance in a matter of 18 minutes. He was soon cleared of all charges.

His ex-girlfriend then admitted to lying about what happened. She stated she had a turbulent relationship with Precopia. Unfortunately, the charges and ordeal still follow Christopher to this day. Even though he was cleared and found innocent, he was found guilty in the court of public opinion. Even recently, he was rejected by the U.S. Army because of his this felony charge.

We may poke fun at those always taking selfies, but who knows, it may save your life one day. Let us know what you think about what happened. Is it fair for this ordeal to still affect Christopher Precopia to this day? Don't forget to pass this story along to others!
