When most people think about cakes, they think about yummy treats. They don't think about cakes being works of art, but the way some bakers make them, they're absolute masterpieces!

Take Alana Jones-Mann, for example. The California baker uses her background in design to create epic cakes that look like...wait for it...1970s-style shag carpets! The cakes combine colorful, abstract patterns with textured icing that looks just like shag.

She uses buttercream icing to very carefully pipe the "shag" look onto the cake. The result is a creative, edible work of art.

Her cakes come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. She draws on inspiration from a variety of elements, from wallpaper to terrariums, to create them. Alana has even made a cake that looks just like the Mystery Machine van from "Scooby-Doo," the iconic cartoon.

It takes a few hours to get the icing to have that perfect shag look. She's more than willing to put in the time and effort, though. Making cakes used to be her hobby – something she did outside her regular work as a designer and stylist.

Once people began to notice her knack for knockout cakes, however, her baking business took off. She now devotes all of her work time to her designer cakes.

What do you think of Alana's bright, unique designs? Would you actually eat one of her cakes, or would you be tempted to preserve it as a work of art instead? Let us know what you think!
