Gellar, 43, and Doherty, 49, first met in the 90s when they were both starring in hit TV shows of the supernatural genre. Gellar had the lead role in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and Doherty had a major role in "Charmed." It didn't take long for the pair to become best friends, and they've been inseparable ever since. Gellar told PEOPLE that she speaks to Doherty "every day."

During quarantine, Gellar decided it was time to improve her kitchen repertoire and turned to Doherty, who is a deft hand at cooking.

Gellar said: "She's amazing. It's funny, my husband [Freddie Prinze Jr.] always says that you always learn better from your friends than your spouse. He's this amazing chef but I never learned from him, because I get so nervous and frustrated and he gets frustrated with me. I've learned so many recipes from Shannen during quarantine, because she's much more patient with me in the kitchen."

Doherty recently spoke to CNN about being diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer, but she is ready for the battle with Gellar by her side. The two friends have supported each other through good times and bad, for the last three decades. And despite everything, it is clear they will never stop having fun, shown through their viral #winechallenge videos and their new-found hobby of cooking together.

The cooking was also a welcome change of scenery for Gellar who has talked about homeschooling her children, 11-year-old daughter Charlotte Grace, and 8-year-old son Rocky James, revealing she has found it "really difficult."

Sarah Michelle Gellar and husband Freddie Prinze Jr., 44, met in the early 2000s and married in 2002, reports Good Housekeeping. Their relationship has spanned two decades and the couple is as committed to each other as they were back when they first met. Despite Freddie's excellent cooking skills, his wife will be continuing her learning from Doherty for the foreseeable. We are sure he enjoys getting to eat the final product though!
