Sarah Jessica Parker offered an unusually personal glimpse into her family life while accepting the Carol Burnett Award during Golden Eve, a CBS and Paramount primetime special celebrating achievements in television.

Known for fiercely protecting her private life, the “Sex and the City" star used her speech to honor her husband, actor Matthew Broderick, and their three children — James Wilkie, born in 2002, and twins Marion Loretta and Tabitha Hodge, born in 2009.

Parker and Broderick married in 1997 and have long prioritized shielding their children from public scrutiny. Despite their deep ties to the entertainment industry, the famous couple have consistently emphasized that their children are free to chart their own paths. During a May 2025 appearance on “The E! News Sitdown with Bruce Bozzi,” Parker explained the values she hopes to instill.

She stated: “I really want my children to be educated in the ways that are fulfilling to them,” she continued: “I don’t think that there is one way to be an educated person or to be equipped to be an adult and try to fashion a life for yourself after what would be considered ‘finishing college’—let’s say 22 years old.”

She added, “You want for them to be pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying and to be able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themselves — emotionally, financially, and that they can be in the world and be a reliable person to themselves and to other people. And so we talk about work like that.”

During her Golden Globes speech, Parker addressed husband Broderick directly from the stage, reflecting on their long marriage and creative partnership:

“And to my beloved family, my brilliant husband Matthew Broderick, who has been my husband for just shy of 30 years.”

She continued:

“Who has given me a family discount, an all-access pass to his masterclass in acting, comedy and dedication.”

She then turned her attention to their children, delivering an emotional message that resonated with viewers:

“And to the family we have made. Our divine James Wilkie, Loretta and Tabitha, oh God. I love you so deeply and admire so much the people that you are becoming. That every day at home and at work, I want to make you proud.”

Parker’s heartfelt comments stood out as a rare moment of openness from an actress whose career has unfolded almost entirely in the spotlight. Parker’s son, James Wilkie, has begun exploring acting himself. In 2024, he appeared alongside his father in an episode of the CBS series “Elsbeth.”

Reflecting on the experience during “The E! News Sitdown,” Broderick shared how meaningful the opportunity was: “It was great. We had two days together.” He said: “It was really fun to hang around the craft service table and eat snacks. He was nervous but he got over that. We had a great couple of days.”

Parker’s Golden Globes remarks and candid reflections reinforced her long-expressed belief that professional success holds less meaning without family connection. While she remains one of television’s most celebrated figures, moments like this highlight how deeply she values her role as a partner and mother.
