Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson shared her joy over the announcement of Beatrice’s engagement. Writing on Instagram the Duchess said, “I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news.” Although Fergie and Prince Andrew split up in 1996 they still have a close friendship as Fergie continued, “Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law.”

With the wedding day being planned for 2020, there could be some big changes happening to the way the Church of England records marriages according to Express. These changes could see Fergie listed on Beatrice and Edoardo’s marriage certificate as the mother-of-the-bride. Currently only the father of the bride is recorded.

However, a statement released on Law & Religion UK as cited by Express stated: “At present, the Government has announced neither the details nor the dates for implementing these changes – and subsequent legislative work is still required. No timeframe is yet in place for this work.”

Royal expert, Ingrid Seward speculated to OK! Magazine as cited by The Sun that the wedding will be held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. This is the same church where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot as well as Beatrice’s younger sister Princess Eugenie.

Congratulations to the happy couple! What do you think about the news? Will you be tuning into the 2020 royal wedding? Let others know who might not know yet.
