During the COVID-19 pandemic, the country has kept moving thanks to essential workers. In recent months, these essential workers have been praised for literally putting their lives on the line to make our lives easier.

Earlier this year in Miami Beach, Florida, residents of North Bay Road got together to thank their local sanitation workers with handmade signs, gifts, and a special declaration of appreciation from the mayor.

Essential Workers Making a Difference

So who exactly are essential workers? We can certainly put doctors and nurses in that category along with pharmacists, teachers, and grocery workers.

One group of essential workers that should not be overlooked are our sanitation workers who are working hard to keep our neighborhoods in top shape during the worst pandemic in nearly a century.

Surprise Celebration

Two of the most valued essential workers include two sanitation employees who have become famous in the Miami area. Both Saul Scruggs and Keon Richardson were working on their regular shift when an entire street on their route decided to show some appreciation for both sanitation workers' continued great work, as WPLG reports.

Both Saul and Keon thought that it was just another day on the job when they notice something strange: the entire neighborhood was waiting for them, including Dan Gelber, the mayor of Miami Beach.

Big Celebrations and Gifts

The two sanitation workers were left speechless when they both received gift bags, presents, and cards from the neighborhood. One of the workers' favorite gifts was a miniature version of the garbage truck that they received from a little boy.

Saving a Wedding Band

So what makes these particular sanitation workers heroes to members of this Miami Beach neighborhood? Well, it turns out that it's the little things. The workers always have a smile on their faces and they bring lots of positive energy to the neighborhood. However, these sanitation workers do go above and beyond. There was one time Saul spent 45 minutes helping a neighbor dig through her trash to help her find her wedding ring, according to Good News Movement.

Why Suprise Apprecations are So Popular

The surprise celebration for the sanitation workers has made national news. That's because it is nice to see people, who are often overlooked, get the recognition that they deserve. As of today, this story has been featured on every social media platform from people around the world.
