America's Sweetheart and comedy legend Betty White passed away less than three weeks shy of her 100th birthday. She was an icon in the film and television industry and will be missed terribly. The news was reported by People Magazine, quoting her agent Jeff Witjas.
"Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever," Betty White's agent and close friend Jeff Witjas told People in a statement. "I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don't think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again."
Betty White was one of the most beloved actresses of all time. Over the long course of her career, she received plenty of awards and recognition for all of her hard work and immense talents. At 99 years old, White showed no signs of slowing down, but it was more than just her talent that made her such a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
Her beautiful personality and bold voice have helped carry White through the challenging times of working in the entertainment industry and have also helped make her a favorite with fans and critics alike. The star has never shied away from doing what's right and making her voice heard.
In the wake of the sad news, many celebrities and friends of the iconic actress have spoken out on social media to share their sadness and grief. Among them was also Sandra Bullock, who had been a fan of White for many years.

The news of Betty White's death came unexpectedly on December 31st, 2021, ending the year in a particularly sad way. Beloved all over the world for her charm and wit, White was a true icon that will be remembered by many fans, both young and old. Her passing hit many especially hard, as the star was set to celebrate her 100th birthday in only a few weeks on January 17th. Several of her friends and fellow celebrities had only recently been involved with filming the movie special set to air on her birthday.
Many of the people she worked with or grew close to over the years took to their social media accounts when the news of her death made the rounds.
One of these is Sandra Bullock. Bullock is one of the biggest names in Hollywood. The Oscar-winning actress has starred in countless movies, including "Miss Congeniality," "Ocean's 8," "The Blind Side" and many more films. One of the many productions she worked in was the comedy film "The Proposal," where she co-starred with White. By many, it is considered one of her greatest works.
In this beloved romance-comedy film, Bullock plays a manipulative Canadian publisher facing deportation. In order to avoid her fate, she guarantees her assistant (played by Ryan Reynolds) a long-deserved promotion if he marries her in order to retain her US citizenship. The connection between Bullock and Reynolds (and, of course, Betty White, who plays Reynolds' grandmother) makes this an enjoyable comedy for all. During the shooting, Bullock and Reynolds both grew close to White, and later confessed to be big fans of the iconic star. They teamed up to give White birthday wishes for her 98th birthday in a sweet video that included them jokingly one-upping each other about who loved White more.

The video featured Bullock and Reynolds singing "Happy Birthday," although a few lines were added to the well-known song.
"Happy birthday from Sandy who loves you more than Ryan," Bullock sings during the clip, before Reynolds cuts in with, "from Ryan who loves you so much more than Sandy."
The two actors took their rivalry over White's affections even up another notch and Reynolds added: "What does Sandy do for you every year?" Does she, like, show up and hand-deliver flowers to you wearing nothing but black socks and a dozen gold bracelets, just like you requested? Doubt it." It was all in good fun and White surely had a good laugh about it.
The unexpected news of White's death broke on the last day of 2021 and understandably hit Bullock hard.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Bullock admitted that "I don't drink vodka … but I will tonight, on ice, with a slice of lemon with a hot dog on the other side and just be okay being sad. I'll have to buy some rose-colored glasses because Betty was that for all of us."
The actress had only recently spoken out in an interview about what it was like to work with White on comedies. She only had high praise for her senior actress to say:
"Timing isn't easy in comedy, because you have to navigate other people's timing. Betty pivots like I have never seen, making it look seamless," Bullock explained. "The rest of us just remain silent and pray we're not cut out of the scene."
