Humphrey Yang, 32-year-old e-commerce consultant in San Francisco, makes financial literacy videos on TikTok. After he successfully represented one billion dollars with grains of rice, he decided to make a second video that showed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' net worth in rice as well. Although he did not give his own political bias in the video, many are using the visualization to spark socio-economic discourse.

In his original two TikTok videos, Yang set-up an example where a single grain of rice to visually represent $100,000. Using this mathematical representation, he then showed viewers how much a billion dollars looked like in rice; this number was 10,000 grains of rice.

After showing viewers one billion dollars in terms of grains of rice, Yang decided to use the same math to show them Amazon Chief Executive Jeff Bezos' net worth in rice. After weighing the rice and going to the store, Yang had a giant pile of rice to show people just how much money via rice Jeff Bezos is worth, and the video has been circulating around the internet since.

According to Buzzfeed, Yang said:

"I wanted to present the information the best I could without putting a spin on it; other people can put their spin on it."

At the time that Yang posted his video, and according to Yang's representation, Jeff Bezos' net worth was $122 billion.
