Who hasn’t seen a lost dog running through a neighborhood or along the side of the road and just felt they absolutely had to pull over and help the poor thing? Wandering pups tug at everyone’s heartstrings. We all can’t help but hope their story has a happy ending of them leaping into their owner’s arms with joy.
WCNC reported about one North Carolina man who went above-and-beyond to make that happen for a wandering dog. Jason Gasparik has always had a deep love for dogs. There have been many instances where he helped pups to get back home and reunite them with their owners. For one pup he recently saw wandering on the side of the road, Jason decided to literally go the extra mile (many extra miles) to help the dog get home.

Jason happened to see a Labrador who was running scared across a busy public street. He noticed that a few other people had pulled over and were trying to catch the dog, who was clearly lost and afraid. The group worked together to eventually catch the dog and calm the dog down. Jason took it on himself to volunteer to take the dog to a local veterinarian to have her scanned in order to determine if she was microchipped.
It turns out that the dog did have a microchip. However, Jason got the sad news that the chip wasn’t registered, leaving him with no leads on how to find the dog’s owner. Jason decided to use the power of social media to share photos of the dog in the hope that someone out there would recognize her.
'That’s when it skyrocketed. I was getting pinged left and right. I couldn’t keep up with all the messages I was getting.', Jason told WCNC.
A friend of Jason’s was able to use what information they found on the chip to track the dog to a breeder in Pennsylvania. The breeder remembered the pup and gave Jason and his friend, Becky, the name and contact information for the lady who originally received the dog. The lady said she remembered selling the Chocolate Lab, but she was out of town for the week and couldn’t get to her adoption records.
Jason decided to get crafty. He made a simple sign that read, “Do you know this dog?” He then went out and stood on the street with the sign for over three hours. A local photographer Eben Adrian took a picture of Jason and his sign and shared the photo. It soon went viral and a woman soon recognized the dog and knew who the owner was. The same day, the dog, named Roxy, was reunited with her owner.
Jason has been receiving dozens of messages from women who can’t help but gush at his heroic actions. Wouldn’t it be incredible if Jason found love thanks to his adorable sign that found this pup’s owner?
