Salma Hayek’s Daughter Who 'Looks Nothing Like Her' Stole the Spotlight On The Beige Carpet

Salma Hayek is one of the most successful and gorgeous actresses on the planet, but she actually led a rather humble life in Mexico before becoming famous. Having worked on her craft since the age of 18, Hayek's passion for acting eventually propelled her into the entertainment stratosphere in the '90s.

Throughout her career, Hayek has been recognized as one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood, and that remains true even as she enters her 50s. The gorgeous star remains as radiant and ravishing as she was in her younger years, while also exuding strength, wisdom, maturity, and grace.

Hayek was best known for playing the beguiling love interest in films such as "Desperado," "From Dusk Till Dawn," and "Wild Wild West," but won critical acclaim for her dramatic turn in 2002's "Frida." She proved she was more than just a pretty face, nabbing award wins and nominations for her portrayal of Mexican surrealist painter Frida Kahlo.

Aside from being an accomplished actress, Hayek is also a loving mother to her daughter, Valentina Hayek-Pinault, who has made appearances alongside her in her public outings. Like many A-list celebrities, Hayek rarely posts pictures of her daughter on her social media accounts, preferring instead to keep her underage child out of the public eye.

Sharing the same birthday month as her mom, Hayek's daughter, Valentina, was born on Sept. 21, 2007. As with the children of many high-profile celebrities, Valentina rarely makes appearances on her mom's Instagram, Hayek preferring instead to keep her underage child out of the public eye, as per HELLO! Magazine. 

But for Valentina's birthday in September 2022, the "Grown Ups" star took to her favorite social networking site to commemorate her only child entering her teenage years by sharing throwback photos. She shared one picture from late in her pregnancy and another of her carrying Valentina as a newborn. She captioned the first picture with a translation in Spanish: "Tomorrow the tiny baby that formed inside my womb officially becomes a teen. They grow so fast."

In the second photo, posted on the day of Valentina's 13th birthday, Hayek is seen carrying her newborn daughter while looking out the window. Both dressed in white, the mother and daughter looked angelic. The award-winning actress opened up about their mother-daughter dynamic in Vogue Mexico in 2022. "We fight over clothes because she takes everything from my closet," Hayek said, adding:

"Since she was little she never let me choose her clothes, and I always liked that… she's very good with makeup. I'm good at makeup, but now she teaches me." 

In another interview with HOLA!, Hayek revealed that although they are not very similar in personality, Valentina seems to have inherited her innate ability to be confident in front of the camera. 

"In my family, everyone is very confident, graceful and light. Valentina and I are the ones who panic on stage. But she gets in front of the camera with no problem!"

Unbeknownst to many, Hayek feared that she would be unable to have children, given that she was already approaching her 40s.  In 2015, she reflected with People:

"I thought I wasn't going to be able to, and it was such an important thing to me."  

Thankfully, she met French billionaire businessman François-Henri Pinault and married him. A year after she gave birth to Valentina, she spoke with People and revealed that motherhood "changed" her a lot. Since then, Hayek has been very involved in Valentina's growth, and she has become a significant influence on her now that she's already a teenager. In 2022, the mother-daughter duo graced the cover of Vogue Mexico. Valentina talked about how she aspired to be like her mother when she grew up. Valentina told the publication:

"I want different things, but I almost always move between 4. I would like to be an actress and then a director."

According to her, being in front of the camera can provide invaluable knowledge when it comes to directing behind the scenes. Not only do they share a passion for entertainment, but she has also inherited her mother's effortless beauty, which she rocks in almost every piece of clothing she wears. Hayek also mentioned that she speaks to Valentina in Spanish in public spaces. She revealed that this has reinforced their unity and their heritage. The accomplished actress also confessed that her daughter's life seemed to take over all aspects of her life already.  Hayek confessed:

"I already wanted to have this daughter so much that nothing else mattered to me. Not my career or anything."

At the 2023 Oscars, Valentina, then 15, made a rare appearance with her mother, stunning everyone when she appeared to be "twinning" with her on the champagne carpet, a dream come true event for anyone hoping to become a filmmaker or actor in the future. 

To make her first Oscars event more special, her mother's team pulled out a special dress from the box. In an Instagram post by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, Hayek's stylist, she revealed that the dress Valentina wore was actually an outfit the "Eternals" actress wore at the 1997 Fire and Ice Ball, ten years before her daughter was born. She revealed in the caption:

"We pulled this beautiful Isaac Mizrahi dress for Valentina from Salma's archive. Swipe to see when Salma originally wore it in 1997."

Valentina paired her vintage dress with a skinny silver necklace and a metallic mini Gucci Jackie 1961 bag, as reported by British Vogue. Hayek is a testament to the fact that her beauty is timeless. 56 at the time, the actress was dressed in a bombshell red Gucci dress, one of her favorite fashion houses, glistening with red copper sequins. 

This wasn't the last time that the two strutted the red carpet together. In October 2023, at the "BECKHAM" documentary afterparty, the iconic pair dressed in coordinated aubergine and black. Hayek wore a deep purple silk gown that hugged her curves, paired with chunky black platform heels. Meanwhile, Valentina wore a dress of a similar color, paired with black tights and pumps. 

Fans couldn't pinpoint which parent Valentina looked more like – her mother or her father. A user pointed out:

"Daughter has the fathers face."

Another agreed:

"Hayek's daughter looks nothing like her. Not even the faintest resemblance." 

Meanwhile, some users affirmed that Valentina inherited her mother's confidence and fashion sense.
