Salma Hayek Admits She And Her Daughter Valentina Are "Not Very Similar Personality-Wise' But That She Loves Her

To say that actress Salma Hayek Pinault is a beautiful human being would be a total understatement. The actress is one of the most prominent Mexican actresses in Hollywood of all time. Salma Hayek was born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez in 1966. She began her career in Mexico before moving to Hollywood in 1991. She is best known for playing Frida Kahlo in the 2002 film Frida, which earned her nominations for Best Actress at the Academy Awards, the BAFTA Film Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. She is a leading actress who has been credited in over 80 movies. 

An avid user of Instagram, the 57-year-old made headlines after posting a makeup-free selfie on her account back in June 2020. Her barefaced-ness had people dubbing her "the most beautiful woman on the planet," and it is really hard to argue otherwise. But if there is just one person who would possibly be able to come close to Hayek Pinault's level of beauty, we like to think that that would be her daughter, 14-year-old Valentina Paloma Pinault. Hayek Pinault didn't welcome Valentina into the world until she was 41-years-old.

Like many A-list celebrities, Hayek Pinault has done a good job of rarely posting pictures of her daughter on her social media accounts, preferring instead to keep her underage child out of the public eye. However, recently the actress has allowed her daughter to come out of the shadows and into the Hollywood spotlight. 

Sharing the same birthday month as her mom, Hayek Pinault's daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, was born on September 21st, 2007. As with the children of many high-profile celebrities, Valentina rarely makes appearances on her mom's Instagram, Hayek Pinault preferring instead to keep her underage child out of the public eye, as per HELLO! Magazine. 

But for Valentina's birthday in September, the "Grown Ups" star took to her favorite social networking site to commemorate her only child entering her teenage years by sharing throwback photos. She shared one photo of her late into her pregnancy and one of her carrying Valentina as a newborn. "Tomorrow the tiny baby that formed inside my womb officially becomes a teen. They grow so fast," she captioned the first picture with a translation in Spanish. In the second photo posted on the day of Valentina's 13th birthday, Hayek Pinault is seen carrying her newborn daughter while looking out the window. Both dressed in white, the mother and daughter looked angelic. 

The award-winning actress has opened up about their mother-daughter dynamic in Vogue Mexico in 2022. 

"We fight over clothes because she takes everything from my closet," Hayek said, adding, "Since she was little she never let me choose her clothes, and I always liked that… she's very good with makeup. I'm good at makeup, but now she teaches me." 

"Valentina and I are not very similar personality-wise," Salma shared with HOLA! in May 2017.

 "But she doesn't have stage fright on camera. In my family, everyone is very confident, graceful and light. Valentina and I are the ones who panic on stage. But she gets in front of the camera with no problem!"

The actress loves her daughter very much and also looks up to her as well. As many children of stars do, Valentina wants to make an impact on big screens too. Trying to follow in her mother's footsteps, Valentina dreams of being an actress before eventually becoming a world-famous director.

Despite Valentina wanting to create her own career in Hollywood, her mother has said she wouldn't be getting a free handout. Instead, Valentina has poured her heart into volunteering to help expand her views. 

"I learned that each person who is homeless has a different story,' she said in Vogue Mexico. "Everyone assumes they are homeless because of drugs or because they don't work," Valentina said in Vogue Mexico. 

"What's more, when you see someone sleeping on the street they have the same reaction: you're sorry, but you don't want to get close. I think it's important to get closer and listen rather than ignore them and believe that it's not your problem or our problem," she added. 

The young and ambitious girl is clearly following after her mother with her big heart, kindness, talent, as well as her young beauty. On the Facebook show "Red Table Talk" Hayek Pinault said, 

"I've been learning to get out of the way … to let them be who they are. To give them the chance to take the chance to be unique. And that is not easy. And when you give them a voice, the first person they use it (on) is you," she explained.
