Rush Limbaugh Says He Has Been Diagnosed With Advanced Lung Cancer

The political radio talk-show host announced on-air Monday that he has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

He announced on “The Rush Limbaugh Show” that the illness was confirmed on January 20. While he plans to continue with the popular political radio program, as he says:

"My intention is to come here every day I can and to do this program as normally and as competently and as expertly as I do each and every day because that is the source of my greatest satisfaction," Limbaugh said on the show.

He also announced that there are some days where he won’t be able to be there as he undergoes treatment or recovers.

The politically conservative show has been on the air for 31 years according to his website, with 27 million weekly listeners on 600 radio stations. He wanted to send a message for the listeners that have been by him through those years:

“I like this program to be about you and the things that matter to all of us,” he said on his show. “The one thing that I know that has happened over the 31-plus years of this program is that there has been an incredible bond that has developed between all of you and me.”

Supporters have come out on social media with their condolences including Megyn Kelly who told him to fight through this diagnosis, and Laura Ingraham who tweeted for prayers.

Rich Bressler made a statement to press as per the BBC that said: “I know millions of people nationwide join me and all of iHeart in wishing him a full recovery." Bressler is the president of the iHeartMedia company that owns Limbaugh’s radio network.
