Runaway Horse Caught On Camera Charging Through A Bar

A scene caught by CCTV footage in Chantilly, France, resembles nothing so much as a poorly told joke. The footage begins with a horse walking into a bar, but neither the bartenders nor the patrons stop long enough to ask it, “Why the long face?”

Probably because the horse immediately began rampaging through the bar, sending both bartenders and patrons fleeing towards safety and leaving no time for humorous rejoinders.

"There was quite a panic,” the bar’s owner, Stephane Jasmin, said. “I still can't quite believe it happened.”

Indeed, the filly acted more like the proverbial bull in a china shop than anything else, damaging plenty of property as she bucked her way through the bar but, thankfully, not seriously injuring anyone. She escaped from the Chantilly Racecourse, located about a mile away from the bar, when her trainer, Jean-Marie Beguignem, lost control of her between the stable and the racecourse.

Instead of heading for greener pastures, though, the filly took off down the nearby road and then crossed a roundabout to reach the local Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) bar, which was, in quite the odd twist, a horse betting bar.

"She pushed the door open and raced straight for the betting corner,” Jasmin said while sharing the CCTV footage on Youtube. "Then the filly turned around, breaking a table and chairs. We've never seen anything like it."

Beguigne revealed that the filly, who he chose not to name, is doing well and shows no signs of trauma or anxiety, following the incident.

No word yet on whether the people that occupied that PMU bar are experiencing new horse or horse-betting related anxieties, but if anything could put a person off of betting on the ponies, then it would be fleeing from a horse gambling bar as an unhappy filly holds a one-horse riot, smashing through anything that did not leap from her path.
