Rumer Willis is holding tightly to the meaningful moments her daughter, Louetta, shares with her grandfather, Bruce Willis.

During a May 18, 2026, episode of celebrity stylist Maeve Reilly’s podcast, “The Inside Edit,” Rumer spoke about the emotional weight of watching her daughter spend time with Bruce as he lives with frontotemporal dementia, also known as FTD. The actress said she feels deeply grateful that Louetta has had the chance to know him.

“I love getting to go over and see him. I’m so grateful that I have a child that got to meet him because I don’t know if my sisters will have that,” Rumer shared.

Rumer, 37, is the eldest daughter of Bruce and Demi Moore. She shares Louetta, 3, with her former partner, musician Derek Richard Thomas. Bruce, 71, is also father to Scout LaRue Willis, 34, and Tallulah Belle Willis, 32, with Moore, as well as Mabel Ray Willis, 14, and Evelyn Penn Willis, 12, with his wife, Emma Heming Willis.

The Willis family announced in March 2022 that Bruce would step away from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia. On Feb. 16, 2023, the family shared that his condition had progressed and that he had received a more specific diagnosis of FTD.

For Rumer, Louetta’s connection with Bruce has become one of the family’s most treasured sources of joy, comfort, and gratitude.

Rumer also praised the way her blended family has supported one another through Bruce’s health journey. Speaking on “The Inside Edit,” she said the family continues to make connection a priority, even while facing something painful and unfamiliar.

“We don’t do it perfectly but we’re always striving to continue to create connection and find ways to be with each other and support each other through something that is kind of unprecedented,” she said.

That sense of unity has been visible across the Willis-Moore family, which includes Bruce’s wife, Emma, his ex-wife, Demi, and his five daughters. The family has often presented a united front while encouraging compassion and awareness around FTD.

According to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, FTD is a group of brain disorders that can affect behavior, personality, language, and movement. In the family’s 2023 statement, they noted that communication challenges are only one part of the disease.

Rumer has also spoken warmly about Louetta’s bond with her grandparents. In a previous interview with PEOPLE, she said Demi, whom Louetta calls “Yaya,” is playful and loving with her granddaughter. She joked that Moore introduced Louetta to Disney’s Moana despite Rumer’s plan to avoid screen time until her daughter was older.

“Even with my dad, given the challenges that he's dealing with, whenever we go over there to visit, his face just lights up and he gets so excited and is so sweet with her,” she had shared, adding that her “family is so incredible with her. I feel so lucky, and she's so lucky. I mean, they are obsessed with her."

Bruce’s relationship with Louetta has been equally touching for the family. Rumer said that despite the challenges her father faces, he still lights up when his granddaughter visits. She described those moments as sweet reminders that love and recognition can remain powerful, even when a family’s circumstances change.

For Rumer, the experience has brought a deeper appreciation for the time they share. Her reflections are not only about illness, but also about family, memory, and the quiet beauty of a grandfather and granddaughter forming a bond while they can.
