Royal Toddler Archie Has Charming Routine With 'Momma' Megan At School Pick-Up

Now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer working royals chained to propriety and Buckingham Palace, they are enjoying a different kind of life in sunny California with their two children: Archie and Lilibeth. It seems that Cali life is offering a particular sort of freedom that Harry didn't get in the royal family. In their somewhat infamous Oprah interview, the couple spoke about their reasons for distancing themselves from that London life, touching particularly on the flexibility a more civilian life would allow them.
Their move to America exemplifies this drive to craft a more normal life for themselves and their children. One example of the unconventional path Meghan and Harry are carving for their family is their decision to send Archie to a nursery that teaches more than just traditional skills. Notably, this means teaching the youngsters softer skills, such as emotional literacy and kindness, not just typical stuff like playing with blocks.
In an August 2022 article in the Cut, Meghan opened up about The other choices she and Harry have been making in order to give their children the best life possible. From the sounds of it, she and her husband are certainly living the California dream in Montecito with little Archie and Lilibeth in tow.
Namely, the article touched upon the launch of her much-anticipated podcast, Archetypes, as well as her ability to rejoin Instagram and post pictures of her children freely now that she isn't living under the restrictions associated with a life connected to the English crown.

Marrying Harry meant that Meghan had to give up acting to attend endless events and effectively change her everyday existence. The royal life was a busy life, with eyes always watching to see if she would slip and breach protocol. After the heat Harry's mother, Diana Spencer had received and the impact it had taken on her mental health, the couple was weary of those same pressures.
In the Cut, Meghan spoke about her life prior– her tumblr, the Tig, her beagle Guy, and her normal life, which evaporated after she said, "I do." She recalled, "It was a big adjustment — a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life." She had to give up her blog, her ability to travel freely, and even opening her own mail.
Meghan managed to weather a sprawling Royal wedding, a highly-anticipated pregnancy, and endless media attention before the spotlight, in part, drove her family over the ocean in search of something different. In the Cut, she spoke about the freedom she felt after they effectively absconded to America, abandoning that life and their duties.
The couple's decision to relocate appeared to be very much driven by their children. Their firstborn, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, was born in May 2019. After his birth, his parents were careful about keeping him away from the public eye as much as possible. While most royal mothers give a public glimpse of their baby, Archie's parents snubbed protocol by not inviting the press. Not long after, the couple relocated to Canada and then America.

California seems to be the solution the couple was looking for. After buying their Montecito home, they immediately started reincorporated everyday life into their schedules. Meghan recalled taking Archie to a birthday and climbing into the bouncy castle — an unimaginable feat if she were still a royal. It seems they are truly more at liberty on this side of the pond.
Meghan even picks Archie up from school, a task which she commented she also wouldn't be able to do in the UK. As retold in the Cut, "Archie knows his mother is at the gate of his preschool before the teacher even throws it open to set him free. He's so excited to see her, repeating 'Momma, Momma, Momma' in his little voice, as he runs toward her that he leaves his lunchbox behind on the ground." The adorable scene is made perfect by Meghan meeting her son's energy and scooping "him up in a big hug so full of genuine emotion that both close their eyes."
Clearly a proud and loving mother, Meghan then rode home with Archie, discussing his day and reading an update he received from his teacher. The youngster snacked on a quesadilla, rolled the window down (without concerns about security or paparazzi,) and chatted with his "momma."
Archie, despite his royal lineage, appears to be just another preschooler. He's just a "cheerful kid who brings a week's worth of freshly picked fruit for his fellow classmates and enjoys playing a 'roaring' game at recess," which is perhaps just the carefree life his parents had hoped to give him.
