The lady Elizabeth Bowes Lyon (1900-2002) was the original future Queen of Great Britain and Ireland and was also the last empress of India. Here she is shown with an elegant updo that features a neat bun and soft curls that frame the face for a not-too-fussy formal look.

Queen Elizabeth II wore immaculate finger waves at the balcony of Government House in Melbourne during her tour of Australia in March of 1954. She also topped the 20's retro hair with a white fascinator: a hat that is very popular among women in the royal family even today.

Queen Elizabeth donned her hair with a jeweled crown as she left Schloss Augustusburg, a castle in Bruhl, Germany, in 1965. This was after she attended a State Reception in May.

She paired the shining crown with the Jubilee Necklace and a diamond bow brooch that featured a pearl drop. Queen Elizabeth II had inherited the piece from Queen Mary. The jewels complimented her soft curled updo.

Kate Middleton has been known for her half-up, half-down hairstyles such as this one that she wore on her wedding day on April 29th, 2011. The soft blowout complimented the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding veil as she was on her way to Buckingham Palace at Westminster Abbey in London, England.

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle: 2018

Meghan Markle also decided to consider her veil on her wedding day back in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex wore a soft bun as she left Windsor Castle in the Ascot Landau carriage on May 19th, 2018. The bun kept her hair back to reveal her smiling face during the procession after she married Prince Harry at Saint George's Chapel in Windsor, England.

This time Markle paired a sleek side bun with a fun statement hat on the first day of the Royal Ascot at Ascot Racecourse on June 19th of 2018 in Ascot, England. The wide-brimmed hat balanced out the side bun by providing a chic asymmetrical feel.
