Royal Ballgowns: Kate Middleton's Greatest Red Carpet Looks

Kate Middleton is a true style icon—not only does she look impeccable on every occasion, she treads the path between classic, timeless style and trendier fashion pieces with ease. And while she's known to stick to a select few designers she loves, particularly Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham, she's not against trying out smaller brands that are up-and-coming.

Here, we take a look at the greatest ball gowns the Duchess of Cambridge has worn on the red carpet.

While attending the BAFTA Awards earlier this year at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Kate stuck to the event's theme of sustainability by re-wearing a stunning white-and-gold gown by Alexander McQueen which she'd first worn in 2012.

Donning Gucci for the 100 Women in Finance Gala Dinner, this ethereal pink-and-burgundy dress looked stunning on the Duchess. The airy silk chiffon adds to the romance of the gown.

Sustainability has been a focus for Kate since earlier than just this year. Back in 2018, she recycled this gorgeous Jenny Packham gown while attending the Tusk Conservation Awards. She'd worn it previously for London's Olympic Concert in 2012.

For last year's BAFTA Awards, the Duchess wore this stunning white one-shouldered evening gown designed by Alexander McQueen. To complete the look she borrowed a pair of earrings that belonged to Princess Diana.

Contrasting with the angelic white gown she wore for 2019's BAFTAs, Kate donned this dark and moody black-and-nude lace dress for the Royal Variety Performance last year. The dramatic long-sleeved gown was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

While attending a special reception at the Pakistan National Monument, Kate donned this sparkling emerald long-sleeved gown. The Duchess is fond of wearing deep green shades, but this sequined dress is surely one of her best.

Yet again donning one of her favorite designers, Alexander McQueen, Kate looked fresh as a daisy while sporting this floral printed black off-the-shoulder gown when she attended the 70th EE British Academy Film Awards in London.

Once again wearing another favorite designer of hers, Jenny Packham, Kate looked like a Greek goddess at a gala dinner in 2011. She complimented the minimalist silver gown by wearing her hair down in loose curls.

Looking stunning in red, the Duchess paid homage to Bhutan at the UK Bhutan Reception. Wearing a dress by the brand Beulah, the poppy-printed silk chiffon gown references Bhutan's national flower, the poppy.

Kate wore Alexander McQueen once again, this time opting for a glamorous black velvet gown with a bold necklace while attending an awards ceremony at the Imperial War Museum in December 2011.
