From the famous comedy-musical show, Hee Haw, Roy Clark teamed up for a duet with Johnny Cash to sing one of his biggest hits, Folsom Prison Blues. In 1964, Roy did a solo version on the Jimmy Dean Show as the crowd found it very amusing. Little did Roy know he would be doing the same version years later with the one who made the song famous, Johnny Cash, to leave everyone in side-splitting laughter.

It is no secret the talent that pours forth from Roy Clark. In the performance, there is nothing he did not do with the guitar to entertain. What made the scene so funny was between Clark and Cash, they were having as much fun and laughed as the audience. It was a memorable moment for all who witnessed it, and Johnny Cash was even amazed at the talent of the late, great Roy Clark.

There is also no secret about how much Roy Clark loved to entertain the audience with his skits on Hee Haw. No matter where he went, or what show he appeared on when people knew he was going to take the stage, it would be a comedy. Both Cash and Clark played the parts well, but neither could keep a straight face as Clark amazed the crowd with his singing and guitar playing.

At the beginning of the song, the also late, great Johnny Cash started the song the way he did for so many years. Folsom Prison Blues was a signature song for Cash as he posed in his unique stance and how he held the guitar while playing. Very few could impersonate him as Clark tried, but he could not be serious enough through the skit as they were both laughing so hard.

Roy Clark threw in his own rendition when it came to his part. Everyone waited as Clark stood in front of the microphone to see what the clown would do. He started strong, but it shortly turned into poking fun of the lyrics, which Cash thought was hilarious. It was easy to see both could take a joke very well, which made it priceless and memorable for all who were fortunate enough to view it.

Then Clark showed his real talent when the lyrics came up, "But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die." He amazingly made machine gun noises come from the guitar. After the lyrics, the band continued playing. At the same time, Clark turned his guitar sideways, picked up an empty bar glass, and played his guitar like a slide steel guitar. He never missed a beat and was on cue with everything.

Clark's playing with the bar glass tickled Cash as his eyes lit up with amazement. Then, Johnny Cash took over the next few verses of the song. When he finished with his part, he looked back at Roy Clark and said, "I can't wait to see what you're going to do now." Clark responded, "Neither can I!" It was like they never rehearsed before taking the stage. Everything appeared spontaneously authentic, especially after Clark forgot the last set of lyrics.

At the end of the video, Clark did the unthinkable, but we do not want to spoil all the fun for you. It was the side-splitting finish that amazed Cash and the crowd the most. It proved there is nothing Roy Clark will not do to entertain the fans and even his good friend, Johnny Cash.
