Rottweiler Discovers Bunny In the Backyard And Does Something Unexpected

Oct 10, 2018 by apost team

Rottweilers have picked up a reputation for being a big, mean breed, but things aren’t always as they seem. Take this Rottie, for instance, and his unexpected buddy.

A solitary bunny looked to be in a heap of trouble when a large Rottweiler came bounding across the lawn towards the bunny, but instead the dog did credit to his breed.

As soon as he caught a glimpse of the fluffy little rodent, the Rottweiler made a mad dash straight for it. His mouth was open and he was drooling like mad. It certainly seemed like the bunny was destined for digestion in the Rottie’s gut, but if you think this was a real case of predator versus prey, you’d be wrong!

As soon as the dog reached the bunny, the fun began for them both! The bunny bounded around the yard, and the dog gave chase, but his aim wasn’t to chase down prey, but to play a game of tag with his bunny buddy. The bunny played along, running to and fro all across the yard.

And the bunny gave as good as he got!

He wasn’t just chased, he turned the tables and did some of the chasing too! The unlikely duo didn’t limit their play to a simple game of chase. Despite the disparity in their sizes, the bunny and the big dog were wrestling together and made quite the pair of explorers venturing around the yard together.

This friendship isn’t as uncommon as it might first appear. Plenty pairs of pets form unlikely teams, often including Rottweilers, proving that this breed’s supposed rough and tough disposition might be under an unfair bias. Spectators of this interaction were worried at the outset, but were delighted to see such friendly, playful interaction between two pals who were once assumed to be mortal enemies.
