Ron Howard’s Granddaughter Appears To Be Mirror Image Of Father

Reed Howard, the son of American film director Ron Howard, recently shared a selfie of him and his baby daughter, Aspen Leigh Howard, and fans have been gushing over how adorably similar the two look to one another. It’s always heartwarming to see how the descendants of our favorite celebrities resemble them. It also makes us wonder how else they might have taken after them in terms of talent and character, and whether or not they will follow in their footsteps for a career in Hollywood. Today, we will be looking at Ron Howard’s youngest child and only son, Reed Howard, and the uncanny resemblance he and his daughter have with Ron Howard.

Ron Howard, 66, started acting at a young age; he was only five years old when he played "Opie" on "The Andy Griffith Show." From there he grew into the role of "Richie Cunningham" for the sitcom "Happy Days". However, Howard always knew his real calling was behind the camera, not in front of it. Soon, he started directing his own movies instead of starring in them.

Ron Howard told People, “I was an actor who dreamed of being a director.” Ron Howard’s dreams came true when he received not one but two Oscars for his direction on the 2001 film A Beautiful Mind. 

Besides his decorated career in filmmaking, Ron Howard has also had a very sweet family life. Back in June 2019, he opened up about his relationship with his wife Cheryl Alley, 67, and talked about how they have managed to make their marriage work even after four decades.

The couple first met when Ron Howard was just a junior at John Burroughs High School in Burbank, California. “I met her, and there was never anybody else,” the director said to People of Alley. The Oscar-winning director of A Beautiful Mind added there was an "instant connection" between Cheryl and him. Throughout his incredible career, Ron Howard admires how his wife of now almost 45 years has been a constant support. “She’s unbelievably supportive and always has been,” he said, “Our compatibility has endured through all kinds of experiences.” Ron Howard also revealed the one thing that has made their relationship work all these years, citing "communication" as a key factor.

“People say, ‘How’d you do it?’ There’s no technique. There’s no tactic other than communication is really important. You have to learn to communicate and have difficult conversations in constructive ways, beyond that, there’s an element of luck because people either grow together or they don’t and I don’t think you can force that.” 

The husband and wife are each other’s pillars of support. Alley has been by his side throughout it all. The couple has raised their four children—actress Bryce Dallas Howard, 39, twins Paige Howard and Jocelyn Howard, 35, and son Reed Howard, 33, outside of Hollywood in Greenwich, Connecticut, and now have five grandkids.

According to Closer Weekly, Reed Howard is the only son of Ron Howard and Cheryl Alley. Reed Howard has dabbled in acting, and like some of his older siblings, he has appeared on his dad’s show "Arrested Development" back in 2018. As stated on his Instagram bio, he is a professional golfer and YouTuber, and often shows off his teeing skills on his social media accounts. Reed Howard is married to Ashley Howard, and the two have a daughter who is a one-year-old named Aspen Leigh Howard. When Aspen Leigh was born back in April 2017, Ron Howard took to Instagram to celebrate the arrival of his new granddaughter. He shared a sweet photo of his son holding his newborn daughter in the hospital with the caption: ‘Aspen Leigh Howard was born yesterday! @reedchoward and Aspen’s mom @ag_howard are feeling blessed and elated. So are the grandparents!’

Although her father did not pursue a career in acting or filmmaking, Aspen Leigh seems to be showing some promise for a career as an actress in the future just from her cute little antics that we see online.

She has appeared on her famous grandfather’s Instagram numerous times, like this one slow-motion video of her playing basketball back in October 2020, and the latest one being this precious one of her enjoying a bubble bath. ‘This family member loves a good bubble bath doesn’t she?’ Ron Howard wrote in the caption. Comments from fans started streaming in, many talking about how much the two resemble each other. One person wrote: ‘I see grandpa in that face!’ and others shared the same sentiments with comments like ‘She looks like you!’ and ‘How sweet, I sure see a resemblance.’ 

Aspen Leigh resembling her grandfather Ron Howard so much is actually not all that surprising once you realize how much her father Reed Howard has taken after his dad in the first place. Both the Howard men appear to share pretty much all the same facial features and they also have naturally red hair. In another Instagram post, the movie director posted an arty black-and-white photo of his and his daughter featuring their side profiles. You can really tell that they have the same DNA! Again, many fans talked about how much they looked alike. One commenter even went as far as to compare them to Rance Howard, Ron Howard’s late actor father.

For Halloween last year, the pro golfer took to Instagram to share a couple of snaps of him and his family as well as show off Aspen Leigh’s adorable Hawaiian-inspired costume. One of the pictures is of just him and his baby girl, and the resemblance between the two is simply undeniable.
