Rod Stewart & Penny Lancaster Have Been Together For 20 Years: Honesty Made Their Relationship Work

Rod Stewart, like many other famous rock stars, was known for his womanizing ways in his youth. After all, most people have heard wild and crazy stories of rockstars' lives. And Rod Stewart was not an exception to the partying ways of his rock-and-roll counterparts!

Stewart opened up to The Daily Mail about his hairy past with women. "There was a period in my life — and it wasn’t a prolonged one, maybe just a few years — where it was a bit “one in, one out”,’ admits Rod. ‘The girls involved would never have known that, obviously," he told the tabloid. The rockstar has eight children from five different women and has also tied the knot three times. Most people believed that he would never actually settle down with one woman for the rest of his life.

However, Stewart contends, "I got bored of not feeling affectionate towards girls. I wanted to be in love. I wanted something special. After a while it was sad, it was actually sad...You just felt empty. If you’re 17 or 18 it’s great fun, in your 20s it is fine, but the older you get . . . the more tragic it gets," he said. 

However, Stewart finally found the love of his life in Penny Lancaster. Penny Lancaster is an English lady who quickly became his everything soon after they met. The pair were married in a medieval abbey located in Portofino, Italy, back in 2007. According to Hello! Magazine, about 100 guests of the couple attended the intimate ceremony, which was organized by Penny herself. She wanted her wedding to reflect her unique taste, so she was in charge of every detail.

The couple just recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary and even renewed their vows just two years ago. The pair have great chemistry, not least because they have a long history together. They have been able to call each other husband and wife for 12 years now, but they have actually been together for almost 20 years.

Rod did a recent interview on 60 Minutes Australia to promote his latest album. During the interview, he talked a little bit about his personal life, and he introduced his two sons with Penny to the world. Aiden and Alastair even have personal soccer coaches.

Penny Lancaster soon joined Rod and talked to the host about how mischievous Rod can be. She revealed that he sometimes encourages a little mischief in their children as well. "He teaches them the naughtiest things," Penny said to 60 Minutes. 

She let everyone know the secret to their successful marriage and partnership – total honesty and communication. She said that it was also important to have patience to have a healthy relationship.

We are happy that these two amazing people found one another. It’s great to see a couple being so real and honest. We will keep rooting for them and their love for each other.
