Robert Irwin Looks Just Like His Dad Steve Irwin In Picture Hugging A Koala

Feb 12, 2020 by apost team

The son of the late Australian zookeeper Steve Irwin, Robert, has followed in his dad's khaki footsteps and become a champion for wildlife in the media.

Robert is an avid photographer and recently posted a photo of himself cuddling a koala that looks uncannily like one that his father once took.

In the photo posted to his Instagram, he has a content smile on his face with his eyes closed as he snuggles up to a placid koala. At first glance, you might think it's his dad Steve, who passed away from a stingray attack, but it's actually young Robert, 16. The adorable photo is captioned "❤️🐨" which echoes his father's love for nature.

Instagram fans noticed the resemblance, one user commenting:

"You have never looked more like your father than you do in this picture. And your smile radiates that."

While another said:

"U look exactly like ur father in this photo and u probably get that a lot"

The photo looks a lot like one Steve took that was recently posted by the Australia Zoo on Facebook. Steve also has a smile on his face while he hugs a koala. The family has been working towards saving wildlife to keep their father's dream alive, and the caption notes:

"We all have a soft spot for koalas. Steve and Terri opened the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital in 2004 to treat sick, injured and orphaned animals. Since then we have treated over 90,000 animals, including an average of 800 koalas per year. Thanks to your generous support, we are able to continue Steve’s dream giving wildlife a second chance at life💚🐨"

Sadly, Robert was only six years old when his father passed away in 2006, reported by The Guardian. He is the little boy in the famous photo of Steve holding a baby with a crocodile.

What do you think? Does Robert look like his dad or is it just a coincidence?
