Richard Gere’s Wife Says He’s Made Her “The Luckiest Woman in the World” By Performing Lovely Gestures

Hollywood actor Richard Gere married Alejandra Silva in a 2018 fairytale wedding. But even though he swept her away and wooed her to become his wife, the romance didn’t just stop on their wedding day.

The pair reportedly met at her family’s Positano hotel when Richard was vacationing there. Silva wasn’t just about to be immediately bowled over by the superstar though, he had to send her flowers until she agreed to date him, she said in an interview with Hello.

It’s such a romantic story that seems like a plot from one of Richard’s movies. The way that Alejandra talks about their meeting also sounds like a script. She said in the interview, "We couldn't stop looking at each other all night, and since then we haven't been apart."

After their courtship, Silva converted to Buddhism and the two got married on Gere’s ranch just outside of New York City. Silva gushed over her beau to Hello, saying “Without a doubt, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world… What could be more romantic than a man who writes your songs every day?"

Who knew that the Pretty Woman star wasn’t just a talented actor and activist, but also a songwriter too?

Silva also commented on the couple’s 33 year age difference in the interview. Silva is 40 while Gere is 73.

"In this life it had to be like this. He has promised me at least 20 good years! I have to confess that he has much more energy than me; he's much more active. I find it hard to keep up with him. He's not human!...What has united us the most is our desire to help other people who need it, our commitment to Buddhism and the Tibetan people. And he was able to see my unconditional commitment as a humanitarian, as a person, as a woman… It's the sweetest, most romantic dream I've ever had. That's why I've decided to stay in it!"

The lovely pair also just welcomed a baby to the family in February, a son named Alexander as a nod to his mother’s name, Hello reported. It will be the second child for both parents: Silva has a son named Albert from a previous marriage and Gere has a son with model and actress Casey Lowell named Homer.
